Has anyone heard about the Babylon 5: The Complete Universe Box Set? I saw it at Play.com today (since I've mentioned Play a few times in this thread, let me just state that I am only a normal B5 fan, and in no way whatsoever do I work for play, or earn any money from anything that has to do with this ).

"This mamoth of a box set contains the Babylon 5 Seasons 1-5 (please see individual box sets for episode listings), all the Babylon 5 films and Crusade Season 1.

    The Babylon 5 films comprise:

    -Legend Of The Rangers

    -The Gathering

    -In The Beginning

    -Third Space

    -Call To Arms

    -River Of Souls

For synopsises please see individual titles.

This box set truly is the ultimate for any Babylon 5 fan, packaged in a luxury box and containing an exclusive Babylon 'universe' poster.

Edit: Here it is at Amazon.co.uk as well. It's actually cheaper at Amazon, by about รบ10, although that sum will be reduced by a little bit when ordering, since Amazon has shipping costs (unlike play).

Is there a market for this though? I think most of us have probably bought the majority (or all) of the previous DVD releases already, and those who haven't probably aren't interested in buying such a large and expencive set. Still great though, if someone buys this set as the first DVD's they have bought from B5, they will have a lot of hours of joy ahead of them.

No sign of this or a stand-alone Legend of the Rangers in the US yet.

          Lotr and Universal set

You may all want to try 101cd.com. There are postage and package fees but from what I can tell they ship all over the world. I noticed this one the other week for sale on Play.com but 101cd.com seems the cheapest so far for europe and the rest of the world. Release date is the 24/10/05 (same as Lotr over here) and if you preorder some places will deliver by the 24th.

Its my birthday this month so guess what I'm getting , you guessed it the universal set as long as everything goes okay. Fingers crossed.

the Universal Box looks sweet! I hope Legend of the Rangers comes to DVD in the US soon.

When the title first crossed my path, I could, like most people, only speculate on what it could be about. my best guess was a history of the Rangers as told by one of the main characters from B5 (lennier, Delenn, maybe Marcus ) taking the story back to Valen and using a few tie-ins from various movies/episodes clips and footage from the seasons. then moving on to the future of their use after B5 and/or Crusade and eventually leading to "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars".

Although the Movie is at the bottom of my list in terms of favorite, it is still a piece of Babylon 5 and it will sit aside my other much apreciated DVDs.

Here is a good question. While its understandable that you cant really put the movie collection of Babylon 5 in the places of the series that you so desire without rearranging the discs in the season sets, where would you put Legend of the Rangers? I personally will put it before crusade because of Timeline issues, and that is how my DVDs are placed . . . it still is kind of a debate as to where it will go, but would you put it in terms of when it was released? or by timeline in the story?

Well, with how the boxes are made it's difficult to have many variations. However, my collection starts with the two versions of The Gathering (original and new), then In The Beginning (that's problematic, in a way it's before The Gathering, and in a way it has the Londo telling the story scenes, The Gathering started it all though, and the single ITB cover looks much better next to the covers of The Gathering than it does mixed in with the sets, so that has both a storyline and a cosmetic reason), then I have the 5 seasons in a row, the B5 movies, then I would put in TLADIS:TLOTR (wow many letters), and finally the Crusade set.

Does anyone know if there will be any special extras for the Universal Set?

Although to be fair to Amazon, any order in excess of รบ19 entitles you to free shipping as long as you don't mind waiting an extra day or two.

I finally ordered the movie now. I've only seen it once before, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. It will also be great to get a complete Babylon 5 collection on DVD. Now I only hope that somehow more will be produced from that amazing universe.

Hehe, I just found a competition in the newspaper here which offers a trip to Florida and a prize of the entire B5 series. Runners up get copies of the LOTR DVD. Box art looks cool too.

                          It Has Arrived, It's Here!!!!!

Hey!!!! My copy of LEGEND OF THE RANGERS popped out onto my door-mat this morning.

                          Notes of interest:-

WB has now totally dropped its horrid, cardboard clip-covers so this DVD comes in a standard AMARAY cover so that is OK. The sleeve design is different from the illustration as shown on the site from which I ordered it...

but that is the sleeve is actually very nice indeed, following as it does, the previously established 'Line Of Faces' style used on all previous seasons and movie sets.

The audio is shown on the back as 2.0 stereo. WHAT!!??? When I burned this onto a DVD off the Sky Movie channels it was in very well balanced and arranged DOLBY PRO-LOGIC SURROUND. If this is just plain old stereo I am going to be pretty peeved and I DO MEAN PEEEEE-EEEEE-VED. Aside from this it seems to be the usual UK, Stripped away, bare bones of a disk.

If the Region 1 disk (when it appears) has extras on it...wow boy! You'll probably hear screaming - that'll be me...in the general direction of Warner Brothers UK.

Well, we know the one extra no version will have is a commentary from JMS.

Oh, I don't know, maybe Warners will change their minds and re-press the Crusade DVD, putting back the commentary in which JMS tells the truth about what happened on the series, thus clearing the way for him to do te LOTR commentary...

Sorry, a herd of pigs just flew overhead.
