Didn't Kosh say to Sheridan, "You are the hand."

Do you suppose THIS is what Kosh meant? Sheridan (or perhaps his evil twin) is, in fact, the bad guy in LotR?

Maybe. I felt the line from Sheridan's dream "You are the hand" best fit with Sheridan leading the "army of light" against the Shadows, essentially acting out or being the literal "hand" of the Vorlons, with the Vorlons manipulating or being the "brains" of an incorporeal "body of light".

I'll stop now before visions from "In the Hills, the Cities..." appear in my head.

..Or somehow connected to the Drakh implant intended for Sheridens son. "You are the hand" - Maybe he should have said "Your son will be the hand!" :P

It's quite some time since I saw both Thirdspace and LotR so this question might sound stupid.
But could it be that the race that emerged from the artifact in Thridspace and "The Hand" from LotR are the same race?
Mind my age before you condemn my forgetfulness, ok?
          What's up Drakh?

I think that that is indeed one of the more frequently mentioned theories among the B5-fandom.

I don't think so, but I don't think it's forgetfulness on your part. JMS said at the Hawthorne Comic con last year:

Audience: I had and argument with a friend of mine about this whole thing in 'To Live and Die in Starlight' about whether the 'white hand' was actually something you had thought of, was in the chronology back when you started B5? I was like, "He planned everything, it must be." So even though it's the sole reference to the white hand I'm wondering if they had been there all along in your mind or was it created when you wrote it?

JMS: There was a group that I'd (something) and I figured one more (something) to Tolkein couldn't hurt too much. There are a number of groups that you haven't heard from at all, I haven't had a chance to get there yet.

Audience: You actually had them there all along or at least some sense of them.

JMS: Yeah. You have to. You have to work out the history in great detail in either direction. It's like, for all those years the Europeans didn't know about the people in South America until they finally met up and that intersection caused great change. So I try and implement that kind force of history thing.
So it sounds to me as though the Hand was/were around long before the Thirdspace artifact came back into our universe.

I like the idea that there are other groups out there that we hadn't run into yet. It keeps the mystery up; and it is a big galaxy after all. Who knows, maybe one of the groups is some alien force from outside the galaxy that in the past has tried to swoop into the galaxy and conquer it some long time ago.

                  It should show up...eventually.
                  Sigh...well, JMS answered my question:

Probably the Amazon date is closer, since they just had me approve the
cover art and copy. (Rewrote the back copy completely.)

                  > any hope of there being JMS commentary on the Rangers DVD?

I told them that I would only be willing to do a commentary if they
went back and revised the Crusade commentary to restore the material
                  they deleted without telling me.

So I'd say the odds were somewhere between slim and none.

Always think positive Jan,if there wont be any commentery on the DVD then there's room for something extra....maybe "A behind the scene about Karate moves for a weapon system"

I suppose...or maybe a "How a Major Studio Can Lose Effects Files Easily and Cheaply" investigative report?

Most accurate, but least likely to be there would be "How studios can frak up a perfectly good thing by overthinking and making weird demands on the people who give them the goose AND the golden egg."
                        "Ivanova is God!"

Well i dont think they will put that on the DVD hehehe,in any rate,i think i will wait for the NTSC version to show some signs of life, and then make my mind on which version to buy...to many wrong doings in PAL version (you just have to look at the latest BTG DVD...region 2 is so lame, region 1 which supose to come out in the end of the month i think, looks MUCH better, including animated menus).

It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Whilst certainly far from being my favourite B5 movie (that is a tie between ITB and 3rdS), I too have re-watched LotR recently and...well, I don't know if it is just me getting used to it but it really does kind of grow on you. Sort of.

Its lack of consistency from the rest of the series HAS NOT, however, stoppped me fromm pre-ordering the title from www.play.com as all I have at the moment is the copy I burned on to DVD off one of the SKY MOVIES channels. The picture quality is excellent so technically I don't really need to buy it as such, but I am a sad completist so there you have it.

As a coment from a seasoned play.com customer, they do indeed provide excellent service to us in the UK. Some times some packages DO get stopped in customs and required a payment of tax to retrieve them (VAT at 17.5%) most do indeed get through OK and if pre-ordered well in advance, get to us even before the official release dates (from both R1 and R2 catalogues). Also, just recently, some of our orders went missing - eventually tracked to a postal worker with sticky fingers! - but play.com refunded our money without question! Not bad really.
