  • New auctions to benefit Biggs family

    Hey everyone!

I found out about these too late to give you a heads up on the first few but I've learned that there are auctions being held by a close friend of the Biggs family (and RJ's godmother) to benefit the boys. I met Caren at the Rick Biggs memorial event and she's just great.

    Check out:

Caren tells me that there will be more auctions through the month so check back often.

Bid early, bid often and bid high! Good luck!

Just to keep you updated, Caren's added several more items for sale to benefit Rick's family. Lots of signed items at very reasonable starting bids.

Just out of curiosity, how sure are you that the items up for auction are genuine?

I'm absolutely sure. I saw many of the actors signing the items up for auction and I met Lori and her friend at the Memorial Event.

There's a little more detail in you PM box but feel free to ask any other questions.

By the way, there are a few of Rick's scripts from different shows up for auction now.

Thanks for posting this thread, Jan. I was able to pick up several very great items, and contribute to a great cause. I would not have known about it if not for your post.

Glad to hear it, Sherlock. So? Don't keep us in suspense, what did you get?? I'm all ready to be happily envious of you....

I picked up one of the posters signed by 24 cast members, the autographed TV guide, and a couple of Rick Biggs' scripts. I figured that the scripts were likely the ones he used in the making of the episodes, so that makes them really special (why else would he have had them, especially with revision pages inserted).

                I'm thrilled.

I also picked up the picture of the cast flipping off the camera from another seller. Actually, from the seller's feedback it looks like you've bought from him before also, Jan.

Ooh, great stuff, Sherlock! I got the TV Guide in another auction also.

Yes, I picked up the 'bird' picture recently, too. I'd bought one originally from Rick at a convention here in Orlando back in 2002 and it played a key part in my fundraising for the family. I found I kind of missed it so I picked up another one.

                  Congratulations on your purchases!

I took a look at the poster, and noticed that it was also signed by Tim Choate, which makes it even more special than I thought. Even the dings and imperfections on the poster due to handling over the years are okay with me, because I know it was owned for years (even if it was in a closet) by Richard Biggs himself. I consider the imperfections additional character to the piece. Caren (the seller) said that Rick Biggs got the two posters he had signed by the cast while the show was still filming. I just think it's awesome.

The TV guide had a little wear on the spine (this wasn't owned by Rick Biggs, as I understand it), but that's okay. I didn't get it thinking it would be perfect. That issue came out many years ago, so if somebody took their old copy and got it signed at the benefit for fundraising that's fine with me. It's still a great piece.

Just so everybody knows, Caren Day is now posting some great photographs at "buy me now" prices. There are some great photo packages, including casual cast shots from Babylon 5. It's a really good deal, and all proceeds benefit the family of Richard Biggs. In fact, it's such a good deal that you could probably send more than the purchase price (it's a good cause) and still feel like you got a good deal.

Having dealt with Ms. Day on quite a few transactions now, I can say everything is as described and she ships very, very fast.

Thanks Sherlock! I was waiting for these to come out and then got distracted by traveling. The auctions can be found at:
