    I'm down.

The simple thrill of loggin on and browsing to find the latest news/gossip about TMOS everyday....... GONE.

TMOS "suspended" in a similar state as Marcus...

I NEED my new to B5 universe fix.......

not even the final part of rising stars can ease that particular scratch......

Is there anything to look forward to out there?

Have you been watching Battlestar Galactica? By far the best SF on TV today, and fast becoming as good as B5. It has an arc, mystery, intrigue, political wrangling, action and wonderful writing and acting.

It's moved into my second fav SF series position, right below B5.

I'm afraid what I'm about to say may bring you further down. When JMS posted:

Not correct. The script cannot be sold by the other party without the option. In contrast, while I have the option again, the script (as the
basis of a film) is owned by the other party and if I were to try and
produce it or if another studio wanted to produce it, they would have
to buy it back from the other party. Any ancillary use of the script
(such as a novelization) would also require that kind of buy-out.
I took it to mean that the chances of our ever seeing TMOS the movie or even TMOS the book are extremely slim. As far as I can tell, our only real hope of ever knowing the story will be if JMS actually does sell copies of the script during his convention appearances.

All I can suggest is that JMS has quite a number of new projects on the horizon. Why not look forward to the new TV show he's in negotiation about? If Jeremiah is any indication, it'll be worth the wait.

Not exactly what you want but I couldn't resist .There are a line of books based on the Babylon 5 universe by Mongoose publishing about the races and the orginaztions etc seen in the show .Not a movie I know but it something new to look forward in the b5 universe.I highly recommend them if you are looking for something new .As for tv non b5 related I can't think of a thing .

            Are you high?

How can you possibly be sober and watch BSG ... and enjoy it?

The series is horrible, the acting is bottom-notch, the writing is amateurish at best, and the only mystery is how it got renewed.

But then, so did Andromeda ... on the same network.

If that IS high, I'll take two pounds of whatever he's smokin'.

I love the show. I'd watch it over any other show on right now. Including Alias. And I loves me my Jenny Garner.

Including Lost even, and I HAVE to see how that keeps going.

Probably the only "serious" sci-fi we'll see for quite some time. And it has the best chance of having a serious epic quality in the footsteps of B5 than anythine else.

I'm afraid I disagree with everything you said, most strenuously, too. The series is great, the acting first-rate, the writing is subtle and stories are good and, with all that, you're right...they slipped up and renewed a really good show.

Perhaps you were put off by the fact that it's very different from the original? During the mini-series that distracted me a little but then I realized that just because the characters shared the same names, they were most emphatically not the same characters.

And Andromeda was on another syndicated network for the first several years before coming to the Sci-Fi channel. And it started out with all the potential of B5's first season, too.

For anyone who gives a flip, my opinions:

Battlestar Galactica - Very nice. I thought I wouldn't like it. I came out against it without having ever seen it out of nothing but solidarity for the fans of the original who were upset at the remake. But once I gave it a chance, I found I very much like it. Now, I make sure to not miss it when it's on.

As for Andromeda - it started with loads of potential; the premise was quite nice. The problem came in the continually worsening of the execution. The potential just wasn't realized, and it's kinda sad.

I don't know how so many people can enjoy BSg ... I didn't care for the original series (the word "cheese" doesn't begin to cover it). With Ron Moore at the helm, I thought there was potential for something really great. And then I saw the miniseries.

My gods, that sucker just dragged and dragged and dragged. There may have been 5 minutes of content, stretched out to fill a four hour timeslot. Slow, boring, monotonous, endlessly dull.

The single thing that mini had going for it was the actor playing Apollo. (He needed more shirtless scenes, though)

I decided to give the series a chance, on the notion that with so many people enjoying it, surely it got better.

Nope. I've seen one complete episode (the blonde chickypooh was put in charge of training new pilots, while at the same time going all whiney whine about being a bad pilot and causing the death of the hottie Apollo's hottie brother).

*shudder* I gave it one further chance, about 15 minutes of an episode, and could not watch another minute. Even the trailers they show during every single commercial break of StarGate SG1 and StarGate Atlantis are unwatchable.

Sad indeed. Until Robert Hewlett Wolf (sp?) was forced out, there was an intriguing ensemble cast with interesting backstories and an ongoing story arc. Sounds a lot like a certain other show we like, doesn't it?

When Sorbo went on record that he deliberately had the complexity 'dumbed down' after Wolf's departure, I was incredibly angry. I certainly didn't blame Keith Hamilton Cobb for requesting to be written out and was surprised that they wrote him such a great farewell episode. They spoiled that with his return episodes the next season, though. I'm sure he was relieved that his character was killed.

I only saw the pilot from BSG. I didn't like it too much. Stargate series otoh are great.
Andromeda has some good parts, but the last serie is really bad.
Other than that, there is Star Trek: Enterprise, which is the only ST series that I liked.

You'll be thrilled to know they are already preparing a spin-off of the series, involving "some" of the current cast ... minus Kevin Sorbo's Dylan hunt character.

Ah, that's it! There's a dimensional warp in your TV set showing you a different BSG! Trust me, if there's something that Starbuck would *never* do is claim to be a bad pilot. Her guilt may have made her feel unfit to train them, but she has no doubt about her piloting skills at all.

The relationships between the characters are subtle and powerful, imo.

That can only be good news. I happened upon it while channel surfing one night and there was Sorbo/Dylan opening up a weapons locker and pulling out a long blonde wig and sword. Gag.

Any source you can point to for that info?
