  • TMoS gone, but what about the books?

If I remember correctly, JMS mentioned/hinted that there were some B5 books in the works as well around the time TMoS was first mentioned. Whatever happened to those? Did they go down with TMoS?

Everyone's focusing on the movie right now. Personally I was hoping it'd get done, but as JMS said, B5's been an uphill battle all the way, so I wasn't counting on it.

Anyway... Could someone who's active on the newsgroups ask JMS about new B5 books? Because that seems to be the only way the story of the B5 universe can currently be told. Kinda sad, but hey, I like reading books, even though most days I'm too busy to actually sit down with a book.

It probably did go down with TMOS I guess .JMS so far as I know hasn't made a peep about them.I also haven't heard anything about the quote book either .Who knows if were lucky we might get that comic he;s been writing for Wildstrom I think. So everyone keep their fingers crossed.

Sorry Satai, but I believe in the message JMS gave, He indicated that much was going to be happejning in the next few months/year regarding Babylon 5. At the Time the Movie was the icing on the cake, But we already know he has completed work on "In Purple", but he had to switch publishing houses. He also mentioned some new trilogies, though he didn't get into specifics. It is just my opinion, but i would say the novels were seperate from the movie, though movie press would have practically guaranteed more coverage on the release of the novels.

The book deals would be utterly separate from the movie deal. However, if one of the reasons for the interest in publishing the books was the possibility of piggy-backing on publicity surrounding the movie, the publishers may decide that the profit potential for one or more of the pojects mentioned has declined badly enough to cancel it.

We'll just have to wait until JMS regroups and makes further announcements.

It was just my two cents on the subject .I am as hopeful as anyone else is .I want to see new B5 books as far as I am concerned there is no reason at least as far as I can see .Why no new B5 books can't be published whether a movie is being made or not .There are tons of story ideas for this universe. But we will have to wait and see what JMS says on the subject. As for the quote thanks for something of a heads up switching publishers eh,.As far as any B5 products go with the delays, cancellations and whatnot. There's a motto that seems to fit."Expect me when you can see me,order and pay for me"

Well, the thing I'm afraid of is that the book deal depended on the movie deal, so the books died as well.

If someone could ask JMS on the newsgroup, then that'd be much appreciated.

              Just don't....

Just don't let John Vornhalt write any of the proposed B5 books. His B5 books from before where horrible. 120 degrees on Mars? PAH! A writer should at least do a little research if he is going to use a real place for fiction.

Aren't there areas on Mars that -- at least for periods of time -- are 120 degrees?
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

There isn't even enough air on Mars to hold that much heat, even if there were enough sun to heat it that high.

If you look at http://www-k12.atmos.washington.edu/...Lander%20sites you will see that the Viking Orbiter Infrared Thermal Mapper discovered some areas that were estimated to reach as much as 81 degrees fahrenheit, but nothing like 120 F, let alone C.

After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Back here on Earth in the Toronto area where it feels like -19 deg. C with the wind chill......

About the books, in a recent post JMS mentioned TMoS and related stuff. Hopefully that is good news about books?

IIRC JMS said that he only kept the movie rights, implying that WB had all other rights, books included.
So any new books might depend on WB wanting to capitalize on the DVD sales by publishing more books, not on the availability of stories, not on JMS (or the fans) wishes...

True, but given that books cost WB nada, and bring them moolah (not the kind of moolahs the US Pres claims want "nukular" weapons but the good kind of moolah), I cannot see them standing in the way of a paycheck.

IIRC, one of JMS' assumptions was that Mars was partially teraformed, thuse the ability to go outside with only breathers. In the presence of some form of atmosphere with a fair amount of particulate matter, the temperatures would rise, although I don't have any idea what would be reasonable under those circumstances.
