  • TMoS Casting Agency

Hi folks long time lurker first time poster but this is uber important stuff. A friend of mine is an actor and through his agent he has gotten some of the casting sides for TMoS. No new info on that front, just calls for your ordinary B5 type characters. But the great thing is that he has the address for the casting agency that is in charge of casting TMoS. Now I'm not sure that sending these folks our letters and what not is the nicest thing in the world to do but maybe if it gets their attention they might let WB know that even they are getting mail on the subject. This address is current as of January 19.

    Pemrick Fronk Casting
    14724 Ventura Blvd
    Penthouse Suite
    Sherman Oaks, CA 91403

This agency will not be making the decisions, merely making recommendations for small roles and coordinating auditions and the like. (Casting of major roles are a matter of the studio contacting the agency or individual agent who represents the actor they want to talk to.) So there is absolutely no point in sending anything to these poor folks. Even if they were "the" agency for all the roles the actual decisions would still be made by the director and producers, because they're the ones who will have to work with the people selected and writing the checks.

I don't think that WB would be any more impressed by letters going to this agency than they would be by letters coming directly to them, and n the meantime it would probably just annoy the casting people. So this is one case where I think the downside far outweighs any possible advantage to doing something like this.

I would be much more interested in know which roles your friend has seen the "sides" for, and what they suggest about the plot of the film.

("Sides", for those not familiar with the term, are portions of a script containing only some or all of the scenes that a given character appears in. On some production these are all an actor will get - full scripts being reserved for the producers, director and some crew, and any actors who are in every scene. In other cases the sides are used only during the audtion process to prevent full scripts from leaking out prematurely.)

    Regards,

    Joe

      P.S.

Am I the only one who thinks it a little odd that a film that is shooting in the U.K. would be using a casting agency in Los Angeles?

Yes. The only way for Hollyweird to mess up the casting even more is to recruit in China. I am not certain that Warner Brothers have a casting agency in Beijing.

The first thing that popped into my head was "Why are the casting in Los Angeles when the movie is being shot in the U.K.?

          Doesn't make sense to me.

At least my thoughts are in good company.

Doesn't make much sense to me either. Why cast a bunch of small roles and then ship those actors to another continent? It isn't like England is particularly actor-poor.

I for one would find it disturbing if guards #1 through #3 are all blonde and have SoCal accents, especially knowing how much JMS stands for casting diversity.

The collection of "facts" we have doesn't add up. Now we have to figure out which "facts" don't belong.

Agreed. FWIW, this is the agency that was named on the My Entertainment World site which is the only site I found that listed the Diane Baker etc. parts with actual agency/contact info. What I could find out about them was that they seem mainly involved in independant films rather than the 'Blockbuster' that WB seems to be insisting it wants.

Given that this agency has come up twice in connection with the project, I'd think there's something we don't understand but it could be that Pemrick Fronk is involved somehow.

I agree with Joe that sending letters to this agency wouldn't help us. With JMS saying that offers are going out to certain people, I think we should hold of, waiting for more news.

What kind of a name is Pemrick Fronk exactly?

Sounds like a bit-character from B5 if you ask me!!!

After google searching: It's not Pemrick Fronk, it's Pemrick/Fronk Casting, meaning Don Pemrick and Dean Fronk .

Another dumb question: what is MEW? Any links to the article?

A copy of the information can be found in this thread.

Looking at the names, other than Netter and Straczynski, none of it makes sense.

My Entertainment World (see my post above). http://www.myentertainmentworld.com/...n_film-tv.html

Scroll all the way down to the second entry in April. The casting agency is masked without subscribing but I did a super-short subscription and got the information when it first came out.

Same two names as the casting company for casting extras...

But why cast extras on a UK film from a Hollywood office? Unless they have a UK arm...

More questions than answers, as usual.
