  • New JMS post 1/30

Ah, you've just got to love how JMS slides info out sometimes...In a post that just showed up a short time ago, he wrote in part:

I know I've been hunkered down a bit of late, and there have been very good
reasons for it...which someday I suspect I will be able to tell, perhaps in the
    form of another fairy tale....

So in the interim, a quick roundup.

I'd say that the next two weeks are going to be critical for the future of
TMoS. There have been a variety of conversations about a variety of things and
people, and some offers are starting to go out to various individuals...so we
shall see what we shall see.
Now, there's only one 'fairy tale' that he's known for telling as far as I know. I was there at the Megacon of 1999 where he told this http://crusade.isnnews.net/news/mcon99_p2.shtml story that had 'nothing' to do with Crusade or the rumors of what he had to deal with from them.

And speaking of fairy tales, he also wrote:

On the subject of the Crusade DVD commentary...I see another fairy tale looming
in the future...WB has agreed, after quite a bit of noise, to remove the
commentary that I did from all future pressings of the set, since that was the
deal that we had made: use it all, including the explanation of what happened,
or use none of it. So those of you who have your DVDs now, and for the next
bit, will have that commentary. Those afterward won't. I don't know when the
next pressing will be, but whenever that is, is when the change takes place.
So those of you who want any JMS commentary at all on Crusade, hang on to your sets.

What's with all the underscores? Is he trying to tell us something?

Edit: Ignore me. Jan just did something weird with the paste

I've just popped over to Google and read the whole post. "Interesting" is a word that comes to mind. If I might be permitted to speculate, I read the following into JMS's post:

      a) Offers are being made to actors;
      b) If there are still original characters present in the script, this would indicate that the original cast are being made the offers;
      c) These offers may or may not be on terms that afore mentioned cast might want to accept.

We might be half way there. Perhaps. I wouldn't discount the possibility that there might be certain caveats (or "agreements") that if the original cast do not accept an offer as made then that part goes out for recasting...

      Just a few thoughts.

[Forgot to mention that it's probably not just the actors JMS is concerned with. I'd imagine he'd put up the same sort of fight for Christopher Franke for example...]

          She told you so

She will not say it so I (having no class) will. Jan and others on this board have taken alot of heat for saying that TMoS is in trouble. Now we have direct confirmation from JMS that TMoS is on the verge (from an EEP to this ). I'd like to say for her and Joe D. and others "I told you so" . Now get out there and write a letter.

Wait I'm confused, I have the Crusade DVD's, does that mean I'm going to be sent the commentary?

You have the butchered commentary. Next pressing there will be no JMS commentary at all, if I understand the message correctly.

Not, for that matter, that I am all that sure that there WILL be another pressing, but it is the pricipal of the thing.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

I don't think I can hold out two weeks.

One would think I would be use to this after being an avid B5 fan since the beginning, but the death row like suspense never gets any easier too take.

Thanks, so I hear. I think I'm gonna need a guide for all this.

Thanks, Tim. To be fair, though, the people here have mainly been heartwarmingly supportive. Sure, there've been some who doubted but not nearly as negatively and stridently as on the moderated newsgroup.

Now if you wanted to post that *there*... it probably still won't change anybody's minds, unfortunately. I guess they have a right to their apathy.

We've been on TMOS tenderhooks for a while now, since December 2003. I feel your pain.

Well, I was certainly one of the sceptical people initially (and, of course, I wish I had been right, as we'd all be a lot happier if it was just a rumor )... but kudos to those who shouted out the truth and got the ball rolling. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

My take on this is that the "offers" are to the cast we have been trying to save, but that it ain't a done deal, not by a long shot. So anyone who hasn't written, write now.

This is a small indication that we're in the lead, perhaps, but that we haven't won the battle yet.

Don't take anything for granted, this is the film industry, and what's taken for granted is taken away!

More letters will help to make sure we win this one...and I know this is one we all want to win!!!

Now...I will stop speaking in double-speak and start speaking in tongues!

What does that say you ask?

Letters! Letters! Send more letters and bucks! And those who haven't...send them now!

We think they've heard us...but let us make certain they've heard us...loud and clear!

Thanks Darth. I've felt that there was a problem with this project since June. JMS is far to quick a writer to have been hung up on a simple rewrite for months and months. DidnÆt he pen most 43-minuet episodes in around seven to ten days and some in as little as two?

Oh, and the two weeks JMS mentions in his message... Expect the wait to be four to eight weeks. That would be consistent with all the actual wait times we've endured so far.

And Darth, you look good in black.
