Hope you have the success that Paramount had when they brought Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the bridge crew of the Enterprise to the big screen.
Perhaps we shouldn't remind them about movies that got Panned by the fans.
And didn't really make the kind of Money Paramont dreamed about.
They made good money by most standards, but not by Hollywierd standards...
Well I just printed my letter and it will be off in the mail by monday. I kept it short and to the point simply stating that I had just heard that the upcomming Babylon 5 film 'Memory of Shadows' was planning to use already established characters from the series but cast different actors in the roles. And how this would cause both me as well as fans around the world to boycott the film.
I mentioned that I hoped they would not do this because I would love to see the film so long as no original characters were recast.
I mentioned that I have bought every DVD box set of Babylon 5 available including Crusade and would certainly support this as well both in the theater and DVD release so long as no recasting was done.
Then I thanked them for thier time printed my full name and address. Came out to four very short paragraghs barely a third of a page. And unlike this post I did a carefull spell check as well. Any way thats how I did my letter.

That's the only part I have problem with - boycotting. We've tried to keep it a positive reinforcement campaign. One slogan that might work would be 'we'll give real money if we don't get counterfeit characters'.
Ok mine is done. Letter and about 16 million bucks and some of the 10's as well. All loosely enclosed in my letter. It will go out tomorrow. Hope that is enough time.

Just a suggestion,
Jan
Hey Jan!
I sent out my letter before I read your post otherwise I would have edited to your suggestions, it got put in a blue postal box Sunday night. Thats how important it was to me to get my letter out soon as possible. Anyway my letter still wasn't bad polite but firm short and to the point.
Folks if you have not sent a letter please do I mean if your the kind of person who comes here your the kind of person who should be supporting this campaign.
I don't think it's entirely fair to call the Star Trek movies a failure or unprofitable. Here's how they all stack up:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - 133.3 mil gross (82.3 mil US / 51 mil International)
Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (1982) - 97 mil gross (78.9 mil US / 18.1 mil International)
Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (1984) - 87 mil gross (76.4 mil US / 10.6 International)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) - 147 mil gross (109.71 mil US / 37.287 International)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) - 70.21 mil gross (52.21 mil US / 18 mil International)
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) - 97 mil gross (74.9 mil US / 22 mil International)
Star Trek: Generations (1994) - 118.1 mil gross (75.7 mil US / 42.4 mil International)
Star Trek: First Contact (1996) - 146 mil gross (92.001 mil US / 53.000 mil International)
Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) - 112.6 mil gross (70.2 mil US / 42.2 mil International)
Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) - 67 mil gross (43.13 mil US / 23.83 mil International)
The only disappointing thing I see is that the last one brought in pretty dismal numbers. I imagine the Trek movies are either milked for about all their worth, or they need to have a few more years before they throw another one out. My guess is that they're pretty cheap to make and anything over 100 million is considered a bonafied "hit." From what I see, Star Trek has gone over that line a few times and flirted with it enough to be considered relatively successful.
