I do not understand German. I know, that there is also English soundtrack on German B5, but I prefer to get DVDs where the *main* soundtrack is English (and that I don't have to change it to English each time I put DVD into player - some DVDs don't do it automatically).

I'm learning German, but it is still far from perfect (blah, it is awful!). And after all - I'm not even sure that I will stay in Germany for a long time!

Anyway, I just got my set and checked the DVD - the video is simply not there...
The only way to fix it - replace the disc.

EDIT: Argh! The picture on the back of the set ("5" logo) has different size from all the previous seasons. Now it looks ugly in comparison. Why the hell did they change it???

I will definately be buying the Region 1 versions, it's just unbelievable that this has hapened again!! Muppets

Anyway - zenoparadoxus! Congrats on finding Spaced! It is one of my favourite series - on par with B5 in terms of comedy and thanks for the link cos i didn't know there was a collectors version.
Have you seen Shaun of the Dead? its as you can prolly guess - a zombie movie much like thier resident Evil episode. Same cast n crew of Spaced - different characters though. Its not as good as spaced but check it out!

Afaik NTSC was first developed around black and white, color was an add on.

PAL was originally designed with color in mind.

Some afficionados disparage NTSC as "Never Twice <the> Same Color".

I look forward to when we have a universal digital standard.

E.G.: Filmed at 60 fps and displayed on a digital monitor at 60 fps. Full progressive frames that is.

Yes! That was how I originally heard about Spaced on AintItCoolNews.com, in reference to Shaun. I've long been a fan of British TV (we had BBC America for a while, which is how I came to know Coupling).

Now if only someone would release Bill Mumy and Peter David's sci-fi series, Space Cases, on DVD.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I saw Germany as your "location", and figured you would know the language

Well, you should be able to configure that in the Setup of your DVD-player...

I'm only learning German for two weeks so far

Unfortunately large number of German DVDs start in German by default - completely ignoring DVD player settings. Bad design, for sure.

                Weird, wild stuff

A few months ago I purchased some old school WWF PPV's on DVD. They were on amazon.uk.com and they were PAL, of course. I searched the net for the "code" to unlock my main DVD player in the living room. Nothing. I checked dozens of sites. So I then found that the cheap, $30 player in my office plays both, so I bought the DVD's.

One week ago, after having forgotten that the WWF DVD's were PAL, I inserted one of them into my living room player, then instantly remembered the PAL thing...but it actually played! For the record, it's a JVC XV-N50. I've seen a lot of people bitching about it in reviews, but I've owned it for at least two years, and I've had no problems.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

                  DVD differences

I have noticed that season 5's 'The Corps Is Mother, The Corps Is Father ' didn't have the Psi-Corps style opening credits. (An idea so recently borrowed by Enterprise for it's recent mirror universe two parter)

I don't know if that was altered for PAL or for all regions.
I have the wings for Bingo.

R1 had the right intro, but Warner UK announced a replacement disc a couple of months ago... so let's hope they didn't forget about it.
