Anybody play the CCG?

As you may or may not know, there is a rather extensive and complex CCG based on B5. I've been looking around for a while and have found some good deals on booster boxes to get my collection started, and I'm looking for advice from former players on which expansions to focus on and how to find other players in my area (San Francisco).

So, anybody in the know? Or is it too outdated?

I played B5 CCG 2-3 years and it's great game if you like similar (cards) games and what most important - it has perfect B5 feeling. Highly recomended if you have atleast 3-4 players.

For playing you need starter boxset (if i remember correctly 45 cards) for each player. If you can't find it, then couple premier or deluxe boxsets will hopefuly provide you all needed cards. Rules are easy and manual is nicely written.

Expansions:
* Premier or deluxe - all main cards. If you want to start playing then 1-2 boxsets (or starter boxset) is must.
* Shadows - as name tells it's about Shadows. Couple of good cards but nothing special.
* Great War - big expansion (i think 300 cards), adds Non-Aligned Worlds. Good cards.
* Psi-Corps - for psi-corps only. If you don't play as psi-corps then useless.
* Severed Dreams - don't remember anything other than providing ambassador replacemants.
* Wheel of Fire - adds Drahks and ISA to counter it, good cards.
* Crusade - adds Crusade pile, quite good cards.

For playing starter boxset + 1-2 premier boxsets + 1 great war + 1 wheel of fire should provide you with very good cards selection.

I'm looking into the CCG as well. I have bid on the Narn vs. Centauri box set and a Great War booster set on Ebay since the prices are definitely right. Looks like finding some of the expansion sets are going to be difficult, though. Does anyone know of any online retailers with a good supply?

But, since you are a fellow jmsnews-goer (what is the proper term anyway?), I'll let you in on the best prices I've found so far.

Go on ebay, search for a store called "Hill's Wholesale Gaming". They have sets of 5 booster boxes for $40.00, from Premier, Shadows, and Great War.

Or, if you're just getting started, they also sometimes offer a 3-pack of boxes for $30.00, one each from the three expansions listed above.

Once I get playing, maybe we can exchange stratagies (as soon as I find someone to play with, that is).

Funny you should mention that... I just got outbid for the Great War set. You just watch yourself there, Slappy, this could get ugly!

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely check out that seller. So far I scored the Centauri vs. Narn set for $1.95, and the Great War for $2.95... of course, the shipping charges are what suck.

Ive got the Minbari/Ea and Narn Centauri set, I could never figure out how to play them. Ive also go the space combat game and I couldn't figure that out either. Another problem is I'm a bit of a Johnny Nomates (actually I have many friends but they aren't really into playing games what with having children and all) But when the better half read this thread and my comments about it he said w'ell have to dig them out and work out how to play. I might even get my first Call of Cthulhu game in for the first time in almost 20 yrs.

Finally, my plan has come to fruition! The pieces are in place, the board set, now all I have to do is wait for that fool Superman to fall into my dasterdly trap (wait, that's not right...)

I've managed to scrounge together both campagin sets and enough boosters to constitute a decent collection, now all I need is 3 people crazy enough to engage in intersteller diplomacy....

Hmmmmm...maybe I'll have them over to watch MotFL and see if they're interested in taking on the personas. After all, what's the fun of playing a B5 CCG if someone's not going to imitate Londo's accent?

I don't suppose any of you live in the South San Francisco Bay Area?

Alas, no, I'm in a suburb of Chicago.

I'll be suffering as well... I had hoped that one of my friends might be interested in giving it a try, but he all but laughed in my face when I mentioned it to him. We'll see what happens when my cards actually arrive. Maybe it will intrigue him some when he actually sees them.
