This coming Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 will mark the 20th anniversary of the B5 finale, "Sleeping in Light" airing for the first time. Would love to hear if anybody plans to commemorate this date in B5 history.
(Why, yes, this is the scene most likely to make me cry, why do you ask? )

I just watched the scene where Delenn talks about not saying 'goodbye' (Objects at Rest) and shed a few tears. Babylon 5 endures!

Oh I really wish I hadn't checked. Of course I'll have to watch it, but I don't want to be sad. Amazing that so much time has passed with nothing new from this amazing Universe in ten years. Twenty years since the amazing finale.

I don't know if anyone has ever thought of this or done this nor do I know why it just popped in my head, but has anyone every started their trip into the B5 Universe with CRUSADE? Or has anyone ever heard of anyone starting this way? I was just curious because it would be interesting to know if anyone's journey through the B5 Universe started after SLEEPING IN LIGHT and then went to LOTR TO LIVE AND DIE IN STARLIGHT followed by THE LOST TALES and then circled back to the movies and then the original series. It would make for an intriguing perspective on how it all went.

Yeah, such a superb finale. Pitch perfect. I like how the show takes its time with this one. It's a proper farewell, not a race to some kind of rushed conclusion.

I doubt I'd have ever made it to B5 if I'd seen Crusade or Lost Tales first. I'd have written it off as pretty awful real fast. Even more so with LOTR, sadly. What a mess that was. Had some threads of potential. But yeah... sheesh. Maybe it's good there hasn't been anything else!

Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

Never heard of anybody doing that but it would be an interesting viewpoint.

I was reminded of this bit that JMS wrote in the B5 script book for this episode. We'll never know what he wrote on that bit of paper but I love that it's one more mark that he put on the episode - even though he deleted that scene!

Also omitted from the episode was the audio flashback as Sheridan walks
down the transverse hallway leading to the central corridor, and the bit in that
same hall where Sheridan picks up a sheet of paper left on the floor and deposits
it into a nearby trash bin. Which is unfortunate, because it showed him still
dedicated to looking after the place, which was a nice character beat---and
because in the moments before we shot that scene, I wrote something down on
that piece of paper. I wanted to slip a little secret into the shot, like a message in
a bottle, something that I would know was there and nobody else ever would. I
didn't even tell anyone I was going to do it on the day, it was just there, and
          nobody noticed.

To this day, no one knows what I wrote on that piece of paper.

          And no one ever will.

                HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! So true.

Well I did it. I sat through Sleeping in Light. STILL sooooo hard to watch. STILL so brilliant, though I really want to argue that the fate of the station just doesn't make sense. Yes it provides closure to the series, but the reality is B5 should have become more important after the Interstellar Alliance was formed. It is just more logical that B5 would have been crucial to the Alliance, but it doesn't make for closure to a TV series.

I agree with you! But, yes, you're right that the big explosion and musical swell does make for a more fitting end. I think this is perhaps a statement on JMS part that B5 is done, never to return...'get in, tell the story, get out'. Sometimes I wish he'd stuck to this. Depends what mood I'm in, but nothing that followed seemed anywhere near as good.

Yes it is a fitting bookend even if it somewhat defies the logic of where the story should have gone, but such is reality. Many things defy the logic of how they should have gone.
