  • Moments you found funny from the B5

    Hello Old Friends

Obviously it has been awhile since the show first ran and I assume we all have watched and re-watched many episodes

for my first thread scenes made you laugh the most

    for me

anyone with Zathras why? Ask Zathras (if you can find him of course)

Point of no return--near the end--when Lando and Cotto are sitting on the couch after both being told each would be Emperor

And Lennier and Cotto sitting at the bar for 30 seconds complaining

it wasnt until someone pointed out to be that was the only time they actually shared a scene

There are a lot of scenes I found hilarious. One that comes to mind right now is when Sheridan came to Delenn's place thinking he was going spend the night with her, and then found out that there was a bunch of other people present for the ritual ...

followed shortly afterwards by him sharing a lift with leiner who gives him a contemplating look and then says "woo-hoo?"
"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

A lot of the humour for me is based in material that's largely unintentional humour; the really hammy moments, TV actors really chewing the scenery, that's where I end up laughing the most. I often describe B5 as the best extended B-movie ever made. I love the show, but half the charm is laughing with it and occasionally laughing at it.

Best moment: Martin Sheen's entry in River of Souls, has me howling every time.

And Zathras, I do enjoy those scenes at face value, that's fairly funny writing. Katsulas also makes a lot of the corny JMS schoolboy humour work, despite the scripting.

Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

Obviously from my Signature you can see that one of my favorite funny moments in the show is Ivanova's "I'll be in the car." line from WAR WITHOUT END PART ONE, 3.16. I was recently reminded of another great moment. In ACTS OF SACRIFICE, 2.12, Franklin suggests that he could give Ivanova something that would make her ill in order to avoid the congress required to finish her negotiations with the Lumati. Ivanova says, "That's it!" and Franklin says, "I'll get a needle." Now prior to this Franklin suggests that she could "put a bag over his head and do it for Babylon 5." That is a moment to lightly chuckle at, but Richard Biggs delivers that "I'll get a needle." line so brilliantly that it makes me laugh out loud every time. He makes Franklin appear to be slightly giddy at the prospect of being allowed to inject someone with something that will make them ill. It is so subtle and sooooo funny.
Susan Ivanova, "I'll be in the car."

Anne, I see you found the old threads.

As for what I find funny, I find Zathras funny. I sometimes quote him and say "Fixed. Zathras fixed" at work.

I also find the universal Swedish Meatballs funny. As I noted elsewhere on this board:
