Help with Season 5/Movies viewing order

    Help with Season 5/Movies viewing order

    Hi All,

    So I'm currently working my way thru my first viewing of B5 via NetFlix. Currently I'm about half way through Season 4. I haven't been able to find a definitive source on where the TNT movies fit into the viewing order of the seires. ('In the Begining', 'Thridspace', 'The River of Souls', 'A Call to Arms').

    Should I just watch Season 5 then work my way through the movies, or are there specific places that I should watch the movies within the last season?

    In The Beginning really kinda fits into the end of S5. After Objects at Rest but before SiL. At least, that's were I think I would place it, since it's "present" story is set during the period between those two.

    Thirdspace takes place about halfway through S4, after the Shadow War but before Sheridan's march to Earth. Someone else might have an exact location for it.

    River of Souls takes place during S5, although an exact location for it, I couldn't tell you.

    A Call to Arms takes place about 5 years after the S5 ep Objects at Rest and before SiL. So if you really wanted to watch cronologically, then Objects at Rest, A Call to Arms, In the Beginning, then Sleeping in Light.

    I personally, don't try to watch the TV films in chronological order since most of them, except TG and ItB, really don't have to fit into the arc of the show and can be watched whenever, IMO.

      If you want to get technical about it, here goes ...

      M The Gathering
      S Season 1
      S Season 2
      S Season 3 through "War Without End 2"
      M ThirdSpace
      S Season 3 through end of season
      S Season 4, through "Atonement" - after the opening teaser, then stop before Act 1
      M "In the Beginning"
      S Season 4, "Atonement" Act 1 through end of season 4
      S Season 5 through "Objects at Rest"
      M River of Souls
      M Legend of the Rangers
      M A Call to Arms
      C Crusade (all)
      S Season 5 "Sleeping in Light"

      But ya know what? It'll be a whole lot easier for you, and less confusing, to just watch all the episodes, season 1 through the end of season 5, and then watch the movies (The Gathering can be watched as the pilot or after the series, whichever makes it easier on you. It takes place appx. a year before season 1)

        I honestly think that In The Beginning should be seen after Season 4 due to some revelations in that season but it's not really necessary. The master list is chronologically correct as far as I know. The Lurker's Guide is a great resource.

        Do please post and tell us how you discovered B5 and your impressions so far.

          Hang on now OS, is that correct? I think you may be mixing your "wars" up a little here. I've always understood "Thirdspace" to occur directly after the end of the shadow war arc, ie after "Into The Fire". Doesn't Sheriden's commentary open with TS's events happening in the middle of 2261, at the beginning of the new age, and between the two wars - with a darkness still waiting for them at home. Just off the top of my head. I could be wrong.

            Yep ... I put In the Beginning in the wrong place (appropriate, no?) ... It should be ThirdSpace set during "Atonement" and In the Beginning should be between Crusade and "Sleeping in Light"

              Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

                M Thirdspace" (directly after the episode Epihanies (sp) - Londo is still back home, but leaves for Babylon 5 at the end of that. Steven leaves for Mars in Atonement (?), so it must be before that.
                S Season 5
                M River of Souls" (Around six months after Objects at Rest)
                M Legend Of The Rangers" (before the Drakh War?)
                M A Call To Arms" (Five/Six years or so after S5?)
                S Crusade" (Following from ACTA)
                M In The Beginning"
                S Sleeping in Light."

                You could ofcourse watch ITB anytime between S4 and S5, but that's the present-year (in the eppy) order.
