  • Babylon 5 Civlization IV Space Mod

Has anyone here played the Babylon 5 total conversion space mod for Civilization 4? I decided to give it a go a month ago and have been COMPLETELY addicted since lol! Was so blown away I made the 2 part video below for people who may not know about it. For a turn based strategy gamer like me who’s always wanted to play a sandbox game as the Earth alliance colonising planets and conquering the galaxy with Hyperions, Omegas & Warlocks it’s just a dream come true!! The creator has plans to add huge battle scenarios (separate to the sandbox game much like the Star Trek Civ 4 mod), and he wants to have playable shadows & Vorlons too. Unfortunately he’s the only one left working on the project now and he has limited C++ coding/graphics skills so progress is slow. Hopefully he doesn't abandon it!

I finally finished my game the other day and must say that while the mod may not be perfect it's pretty bloody good. The fact that you can enjoy a Babylon 5 game that doesn't have Babylon 5 in it just shows how large, rich and amazing JMS's B5 universe really is. To be able to play a turn based sandbox galaxy conquest game in the Babylon 5 universe was just a dream come true! I was completely and utterly addicted for like 2 months there lol.

The developer hasn't been getting any help (I have no programming or artist skills so I can't help him either) and it sounds like he's had enough of working on it alone so this may be it for this B5 mod sadly.

The 2 previous videos ended up being quite popular on Youtube so I decided to do a special part 3 bonus episode showing some of the cool end game techs and ships in battle (Omegas, Warlocks, Drakh, Shadows, Whitestars & ISA Victory etc). Gave a few final thoughts on the mod too.

Sadly, never played any of the Civilisation series, which is a major oversight on my part.

Nice game site, with the list of current and past mods – I gave up trying to keep track of them years ago. Are you planning on keeping it going for a while?

Man, I would love a point and click Lucas Arts style adventure game set in the B5 universe.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

Thanks man. Yeah I've been keeping it going since 2011 and don't intend to stop! I generally update it annually. I have a thread at this forum for 'help/suggestions/new game submissions' that I update whenever the site updates. Got a whole bunch of new projects B5 fans have told me about to add to the next version eg B5 Stellaris, B5 Space Empires, B5 Gal Civ 2, B5 Distand Worlds. The cool projects just keep coming haha.

Oh you and me both mate. I love classic Sierra & Lucusarts point & click adventure games! There were some good Star Trek P&C games and fans have made some cool Star Wars & Stargate SG1 P&C games however I've never seen any B5 related P&C games sadly.

Yeah, I played all those Sierra and Lucasarts games as a a kid, and well into my teens. So many good memories. I pretty stoked for the long delayed Indiana Jones and The Fountain of Youth, which appears to capture the vibe of 'Fate of Atlantis' which I replayed last year. So good.

That looks fun indeed. I have not played a computer game in years, I was a fan of the old Ceasar series though.

Same, my favourite was always the Quest for Glory series as it was like King's Quest but with RPG stats and combat. I have a huge section on my site devoted to QFG and I'm also the creator of QFG4-3D Hexen which recently ended up on Rock, Paper Shotgun & PC Gamer much to my surprise! Yeah I can't wait for Fountain of Youth too! There was a great video on their facebook page 3 or 4 years ago of Indy walking around this New York dockyard jetty at night in a rain & thunder storm. It looked so atmospheric!

I think I played the demo of Caesar 1 and 2 but never got around around to playing the full games sadly as they looked fun!

Forgot to post here some of the screenshots I took from my big game. Just looking at them now years later makes me want to go play the mod again but it's too much of an addictive time suck haha.

That definitely looks complicated and time consuming.
