  • IMDb is Shutting Down their Message Boards

After February 19, 2017, IMDb will be shutting down all of their message boards including their board for Babylon 5.

IMPORTANT: IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic. See more
This is an opportunity to tell people about JMSNews Forums.

Since Jan is a regular on the IMDb Babylon 5 message board, it may be best for her to make the invitation. Otherwise, I would be happy to invite new users.

I posted to the B5 page already. I just wrote and asked DougO to upgrade the first person to take me up on it - Alpha128.

        Hello! And welcome!
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

While I must admitt I almost never go to the IMDB forums any more, as I find the majority of posters and posts aggressive and silly, it is sad to see the B5 one go. I spent a lot of time there at the beginning of this century. And as it happens it is there I got to know Jan.

                    Yeah, I'm quite the recruiter!

Then I guess you didn't have a big enough ignore list!

Seriously, while I did avoid some IMDb boards, the ones I hung out in were pleasant places to visit.

And they're gone. I went to look one more time last evening and they were already gone as of about 7:30 Eastern.

Welcome all of you who've joined our little band here!

I had a feeling that's what it was. Thanks for the verification.

I logged out of my IMDb account, and without the boards see no reason to ever log back in.

I wonder if its only a matter of time before all other user generated content (e.g., reviews, lists, polls) is eliminated.
