  • B5 re-watch with first timer

I've have the pleasure of introducing a new fan to B5

We've been watching an episode or two of season one as time permits on the night shift at work. But I was keeping my fingers crossed because I wasn't sure she really liked it - until tonight and we started season two.
She was genuinely disappointed that Sinclair was reassigned, then got all misty at Anna Sheridan's video in episode-2 Revelations.

It's great fun to share the reactions of a new fan and hard not to say anything too revealing when questioned.

So nice to see the show still has magic and competes well with what's on TV today!

When asked, if you think the answer is spoilery, use the RiverSong tone, just saying "Spoilers ...!"

Always good to introduce B5 to someone new, I have done it 2 or 3 time by now, and who knows, I might get the chance again ... ??

Glad that you "endured" season 1 (which I actually like), and did not "just" jump into season 2.

So jealous!! While I've turned a number of people on to B5, it's only been from a distance. Hope some day to actually be able to watch as someone experiences it for the first time.

I am itching to get one of my friends into the show. He's an SF / Fantasy nut, so it seems like a no brainer. That first season can be a hard sell though!

Would be cool to watch it with him over some beers and make it fun.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

I've introduced the show directly to two different people. They were both hooked on the first season; it really has some great stuff there. One even at the end of watching all five seasons said "great show, but I miss Sinclair"

            I think season-1 is a must too.
Especially the first episode because it starts with Londo at the gaming tables at his most pathetic and his friendship with Garabaldi.
Plus I wanted her to see Londo talking about his death vision.

Lindsey is 25 years younger than I so wasn't sure what her tolerance level was for long plot-lines and intrigue - but you never know what people like.
She liked both 'infection' and 'Parliament Of Dreams' but not 'And The Sky Full Of Stars' so much.

Being a 'youngster' she had no idea who Stephen Furst or Bill Mumy are.
She knows Mira Furlan from Lost and liked the campiness of TOS and asked why Bester didn't have a Russian accent, lol!

I didn't care much for 'Sky' the first time around, either. At first glance, Sinclair waking up on an empty station reminded me to much of Kirk waking up on an empty Enterprise so I tuned out when I shouldn't have. Taught me not to allow surface similarities prejudice me!
