  • Bumping into B5 fans on the internet

So I'm in a forum for discussing politics and in reply to someone I say "I hope you don't mind me replying by way of this B5 quote that your post brings to mind". I use the scene where Mollari is told "I hear sounds, the sounds of billions of people calling your name" by Elric the technomage. I follow that up with the scene wherein Mr. Morden asks Mollari what he wants.

The reply I get is "Vir handled him best...." along with the two youtube clips you'd expect regarding that of Vir and Mr. Morden.

lol, but the insight of JMS endures and remains valued.

That's also a forum where Mellisa Gilbert's run for office got two threads, and people were joking in one about how they hope she won't be influenced by the Shadows.

B5 was as important to its audience as much as any Trek series was to theirs, but its place in popular culture is different. More cerebral, maybe.

One thing I also find cool is that some of the folks quoting B5 haven't even seen it any time recently - like in over ten years. It's definitely as relevant today as it ever was.
"As empathy spreads, civilization spreads. As empathy contracts, civilization contracts...as we're seeing now.

If anything, B5 has only gotten *more* relevant as we descend deeper into crisis.
