Independent Star Trek trailer - a lot like Crusade

So, I just saw this story and trailer and it struck me that it all sounded very familiar. It seems like a rip-off of Crusade, even down to the make up the crew - ship with rag tag crew sent out to save Earth from a mysterious force.

It is good to see Walter Koenig again though.

Interesting cast they've put together. though I don't recall crusade being Rag-Tag, there was just one thief, a technomage and an archeologist that were not part of Earthforce. All the rest of the crew was EA.

The concept of a crew going out in search of a cure/solution to a massive problem long predates Crusade. Hell Buck rogers did it back in the '70s in Season 2 where the ship had to go in search of some MacGuffin I can't remember. The original BSG was similar in scope.

I saw a preview of Renegades at Fedcon a few months ago, and it works really nicely.

Dunno, I don't really see the Crusade connection. If anything it sounds more like Legend of the Rangers, in terms of rag tag / crew of rejects, and I highly doubt anyone would want to rip that off!
