  • Reading too much into a posting

Here's a chance to read too much into JMSs latest (as of now) posting:

Actually, turns out it wasn't an implosion after all. I accidentally said my
name backwards and I got blipped off to the fifth dimension.

Which, oddly enough, looks just like Trenton.
    Where is Trenton?
Has JMS actually been there? Doing what??

Probably just a name, but who knows...

I was thinking it was the guy from Demon with a Glass Hand but that's just Trent I think...

Here in the States it could be (at least) Trenton, NJ or Trenton MI or Trenton, MO. Since JMS is originially from New Jersey I'd say it's likely that one.

Also, people like to make fun of New Jersey, especially past residents. Since Trenton is the capital of NJ, it makes a good target.

QUESTION: Why do people in NYC get depressed?
ANSWER: Because the light at the end of the tunnel is NJ.

Actually, there are some beautiful parts of NJ, but I don't think JMS was referring to those parts.

He may have been since those beautiful parts are the signs welcoming you to a new state as you drive.

I did suspect that it was a place in NJ.

There's a huge bridge in Trenton (NJ), which you can see from the train (all of them - Amtrak, NJ Transit, and SEPTA), and which bears the city's slogan: Trenton Makes, the World Takes. I did a lot of NY-to-PA traveling when I was living in Brooklyn and dating someone in Philadelphia, so I can't hear the name "Trenton" without immediately finishing it, "makes, the world takes."

As for JMS's statement, IMHO, it really seems to imply that JMS was talking about NJ, and simply making the usual "NJ is ugly/smelly/provincial" crack.

I don't think JMS was necessarily insulting to Trenton, anymore than saying breen tastes just like Swedish meatballs. He was just doing a funny by saying the 5th dimension looks oddly like the wrong side of the river.

Now if he said he had been banished to the Fifth Circle of Hell.....

That's right, cause we all know that the Fifth Circle of Hell is actually Jersey City.

The problem with this type of humor is that you have to live in these places to get it.
