This is great. I must admit I struggle to find one person to watch B5 with, let alone eleven people. That must be really fun!
That is no joke. I have always wanted to watch it with others. I convinced my mother to watch it with me, but that has been an extremely long process because she lives 900 miles away and we're only able to watch it when visiting each other. I would buy her a set of the DVDs, but she would hate that. She would claim she only wants to watch it when I bring the DVDs or she comes to my house. She says she loves the show, but who can trust what their mother says.
It's not one particular thing, I think as much as anything it was the combination of a large screen, many consecutive episodes and the fact that there were about 11 other people in the room watching it with me. I feel we can better appreciate the things we love by watching it with those who've never seen it, observing their reactions, the oohs, the aaahhs, the applause, lets us, I think, gain an awareness of Babylon 5 on levels not previously seen.
I cannot cite (aside fomr that unseen psi corps logo for the reasons I've explained in a previous post) anything specific. I missed eps 9 through 11 due to having to go and record my podcast so wasn't as irked by Byron as I usually am.
Also on previous watches I had taken a dislike to Lochley as she wasn't Ivanova, but knowing more of the hostory of why Claudia left, also watching her character develop episode by episode and I think, my own sobriety. I almost always watched tv either in the process of becoming drunk or while drunk. Sobriety lets me see things in a different light.
I know this hasn't answered your question which was to provide examples but I hope through context you can see what I meant.

In light of this rewatch I'm noticing things I've never seen before, rewatches reveal layers in things you never notice on first sight, or in my case (no pun intended) second sight
Examples? I just finished re-watching Season 5 myself so I am curious. I always notice new stuff when I re-watch. My next re-watch of the entire series might involve a Bill Blair drinking game. I love how many times he can show up in an episode as different background characters. I can almost always tell when it is him.
This year the Turku Science Fiction Society have been showing the seasons of Babylon 5 in two day periods one weekend a month. The dvds as I have them do a chapter stop just after the opening credits, so once I'd sat through them a coupe of times I always used to skip them post teaser on rewatch.
Due to the nature of the rewatch and not being in control I couldn't skip the Credits on "The corps is mother the corps is Father" so on this weekends season five rewatch instead of my tattoo I saw for the first time, this image
Then, rather than JMS name on the butt end of the station the symbol is placed there. However I couldn't find an image of that.
