  • B5:TMoS in IMAX?

    Just wondering.

Warner Bros. has begun releasing a few of their more visualy ambitious films on the IMAX format. I know of three so far: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. I know it's a long shot, but B5:TMoS could possibly go Imax.

I saw the Matrix sequels at an Imax theater and wished I had seen HP that way. The visual quality is truly breathtaking, and the sound system will just kick your ass through the back wall (that's in a good way ). It realy is an emmersive way of watching a movie.

Just thought I would bring up the possibility wile real news was scarce.

I would *love* to see the Station on an IMAX screen. Total immersion indeed.

Yes, but imagine a close up of Londo's hair! It would frighten children and small animals!

Ah. You have a problem with that? <g> What would small animals be doing in a theater?

Am I the only one who watches B5 with small animals?

Actually, an IMAX B5 would be very cool, the only real problem is that there isn't one particularly close to me.

On the sub-subject, I have 3 small animals that *love* B5. But, the IMAX that is near me never plays the good IMAX movies, just the boring documentaries. Oh, well, pets aren't allowed in anyway.......

The station? The heck with the station. I want to see G'Kar's codpiece on an IMAX screen!

                There's a visual I never thought I'd have.

                  Right there with ya, Omaha!

                  *shudders*

Many major theatre chains have the equivalent of an IMAX screen now. They can't call it IMAX since that is a trademark name. Most will refer to it a the "grand screen" or some such thing.

Films shown on such screens are not "shot in IMAX." IMAX film is very large and the IMAX camera is a behemoth of a thing.

Films shown on an IMAX type screen are shot on super35 or some other high quality film (or like SW on HD) and are then simply screened on an IMAX sized screen.

Not that it's not an amazing experience...it's wonderful. If the theatre is a good one.

Here in Memphis we have one chain downtown that has an "IMAX" screen but the sound...well...sucks.

However, our main chain in the Midsouth, called MALCO, has more than one "IMAX" (they call it Grand Screen) theatre in town and their sound and projection quality is second to none.

In fact, out of the 50 or so digital projection theatres in the country, MALCO owns two of them.

I've lived in and visited many cities and seen films on many a movie chain's screens...and let me tell you folks...no one has ever come close to MALCO. It is one of the few good things about living in Memphis. MALCO spares no expense in their theatres. They are the best designed and have state of the art technology in picture, screen and sound.

If you're ever in Memphis, let me know and I'll take you to a MALCO cinema to really experience a film.

I can't wait to see TMoS on a MALCO Grand Screen with Dolby Digital sound!

                    Whoa...what about porn in IMAX?

Speaking of MALCO...all the ones I have been in are pretty old and dirty. The nearest IMAX to me is in Branson. I was going to go see Matrix Reloaded there last year when I was in town (nothing else to do in Branson) but I didn't get around to it.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

I wouldn't care if it were a regular format film shown on the big screen, or actually in IMAX format (our local theater does both - they just clarify if it's not an IMAX film with a disclaimer card before the trailers). I'd just be thrilled to see it on the big screen. Of course I'm talking about the codpiece.

I can't imagine how such an unhealthy fixation on anyones codpiece can be a good thing. I think we need to seriously consider putting the C-word ban into effect.....

It all depends on which piece of the cod you end up with. I certainly won't battle Aisling on the topic and will settle for whatever I get.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

I don't know...this whole codpiece thing seems a little fishy to me.

Was the piece of Cod by any chance the Liver ??

                              Celtic song lyrics

                              Cod Liver Oil - Traditional

I'm a young married man and I'm tired of me life
For lately I married an ailing young wife
She does nothing all day only sits down and sigh
Sayin: "I wish to the lord that I only could die"

Oh doctor, dear doctor, oh doctor de Jongh
Your cod liver oil is so pure and so strong
I'm afraid of me life, I'll go down in the soil
If me wife don't stop drinkin' your cod liver oil

Til a friend of me own came to see me one day
And he told me me wife was just pining away
But he afterwards told me that she would get strong
If I'd buy her a bottle from doctor de Jongh

Oh doctor, dear doctor, oh doctor de Jongh
Your cod liver oil is so pure and so strong
I'm afraid of me life, I'll go down in the soil
If me wife don't stop drinkin' your cod liver oil

So I bought her a bottle it was just for to try
And the way that she scoffed it, you'd swear she was dry
I bought her another, it went just the same
Til I own she's got cod liver oil on the brain

Oh doctor, dear doctor, oh doctor de Jongh
Your cod liver oil is so pure and so strong
I'm afraid of me life, I'll go down in the soil
If me wife don't stop drinkin' your cod liver oil

My house it resembles a big doctor's shop
With bottles and bottles from bottom to top
And when in the morning the kettle's a-boil
You'd swear it was singin' out: Cod Liver Oil

Oh doctor, dear doctor, oh doctor de Jongh
Your cod liver oil is so pure and so strong
I'm afraid of me life, I'll go down in the soil
If me wife don't stop drinkin' your cod liver oil
