Am I the only one ready for the story of Babylon 4 and Valen?

I have to be honest, that one isn't a top priority for me. I really dislike time travel stories. For me War Without End is an absolutely perfect closing to that plot thread.

I'm interested in seeing more of how Sinclair/Valen lived on Minbar, mainly because I loved what I saw of him on Minbar in Kathryn Drennan's "To Dream in the City of Sorrows". And really, once he's Valen, the time travel part is mostly over with.

But I'm afraid it's likely to remain in the realm of fan fiction rather than become a thing.

A Valen/Sinclair/First Shadow war would be a cool story.

I wouldn't want it to focus on the time travel piece. I would want to show how he brought the Minbari together, formed the grey council, fought the shadows, etc.

I don't know how fussed I am about revisiting or expanding story lines that were primarily there to add depth and texture to the B5 universe, or explain away a change in actor (albeit VERY WELL!). If these stories had been intended as more than that, I think there was ample scope to explore them during B5s five year tenure. I do sometimes feel opportunities were missed with the TV movies, to do something a bit more meaty, instead of say, HP Lovecraft in space.

I’m just hoping for something that will take us all by surprise, something that will be different enough to get us excited all over again, yet retain some of the magic of the original show. I want something that has the capacity to entertain me on its own terms, without being beholden to what came before it.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

I have to say that seems like a good goal.

I just really want some news!!!!!!! I've been reading star wars spoilers for lack of anything better to do, but what all that reading has been doing is making me wish I was reading about Babylon 5.

In Valen's name, please keep Jar Jar Abrams as far away from B5 as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guarantee you that Abrams will do a better job on Star Wars than anything Lucas has produced in the last 15 years. He's not exactly a visionary director, but he's fairly solid. Anyone who thinks he ruined Trek needs to go back and re-watch the existing Star Trek films, they're not exactly brilliant either.

At least with B5, we know Joe will always be involved.

We are looking at a 2017 film correct? I am basing this on JMS saying writing the script in 2015, giving WB the option to join in but making it in 2016.

I would think that production might take a bit longer .

Just a thought : 2018 is the 25th Anniversary of "The Gathering", so why not ?

It's kinda painful even talking about ths, cause it's not going to happen fast.

Look what happened to The Flickering Light, and to my mind that had more chance of getting made and doing well than a B5 film.

I actually really liked trek 2009, but the 2nd was disappointing.

As far as star wars, have you been keeping up with Making Star Wars spoilers? if he's correct eppy 7 is gonna be sh*t.

If this new movie ever gets made hopefully it will be brilliant, but it has to actually be written and made. *sighs and crosses everything*

Guessing you mean the new Trek film getting made? I heard they lost their chosen director and writing team. Bit of a shame.

As far as the new Star Wars film is concerned, I liked the trailer and the old school feel looks really promising. I mean, practical FX making a comeback. This, to me is good. I've seen nothing that indicates it will be bad. It HAS to be better than the prequels.

Pretty sure Delenn of Mir meant the B5 movie?
