Free Babylon 5, but no movie campaign?

I can't speak for JMS, of course but I tend to think that it might have something to do with what's achievable and what's not. AND it might have had something to do with what JMS was doing at the time, too. Remember, he was negotiating with WB for two or more years to try to get the rights back. That's not something that he could make public at the time and I don't imagine it would have helped at all for fan campaigns to create a distraction.

As for the possible, there's no way that fans can do a Kickstarter for a Blu-Ray or movie and raise anywhere near enough money. It's simply not possible. Nor will there ever be enough fan letters to persuade WB or anybody else to finance a movie. But it *is* possible (as seen) for fan campaigns to persuade TV stations that running B5 would be good for increasing their viewership. Then those stations can get the attention of WB where fans are far less likely to.

That's my thinking at least.

Thank you for so eloquently putting into words what I was considering writing. WB has repeatedly demonstrated over the years that they do not understand how valuable Babylon 5 is.

Greetings all,

I am glad to see that there was a campaign to get the B5 series back on television and kudos to all of those who participated. However, this also leaves me puzzled.

If I remember correctly JMS himself was crediting the fans with regards to the Free Babylon 5 Campaign. Yet JMS also indicated a while back that he didn't want the fans to start any kind of lobbying effort with regards to either re-booting the series or the development of a major Motion Picture (which I think everyone here wants to see, including my self).

Therefore, I am very curious as to why JMS would applaud one B5 campaign and not another?
