I bet it was amazing, and very emotional. That really was an important moment in Babylon 5 history to be a part of.

Sounds quite emotional yes. Didn't know Michael had told Joe to let people know once he'd passed.

That's so interesting that Michael O'Hare would share his very personal explanation, he must have really loved his fans.
He seemed like a real stand-up guy as written about the way he raised his step son. ( Echoes Of All Our Conversations)

            Jan,

            Thanks for posting this.

              Sorry I'm late.

Thank you SO much for posting this, and thanks to JMS for fulfilling his promise to Michael. I can understand Michael not wanting his ailments discussed in public, yet also feeling the need to give the fans the truth.

And after all the [BEEP] that's been said (often by idiots) about Michael over the years, it feels good to finally know the truth.

It must've been very difficult for Michael and his family to live through, and I sincerely hope he found some peace before the end, and that his family know how much Michael meant to so many of us.

              Again, my thanks.

It was *very* powerful being there. I bet there was not a dry eye to find in the room.

Wow. That explains so much. I am glad JMS got to tell the story, but I think the cost was too high.

The cost that Michael had to die before JMS was free to tell what happened, I think.

I too assume that is what was meant.

This is mind-boggling. You've all seen the report I wrote on the JMS promise panel, quickly written and riddled with typos. Since this was such important news, I did what I call my 'town crier' act and wandered around to all the places I'm active to repost it (and fix at least some of the typos along the way). I just looked at the stats for that report on the two Facebook pages I'm an Admin for (a B5 page and, of course, JMSnews):

People who 'Like' the two pages: 4,534
People who 'Like' the particular report post: 2,786
Shares of the report post: 863
People who saw the report post: 95,816

And it's nice, really nice, that of all the people who've commented on all of the places I posted, only one was unkind.

                          B5 fans are so cool.

It's funny you mention that, Jan; last night I went on a forum I've not visited in years... but I remembered there were a lot of B5 fans there. I wrote a little piece about JMS, MO'H, and the 19 year promise, and I borrowed the links posted here, (I hope no one minds, it was for a good cause), and posted it.

Just popped back there to check it, and found nothing but praise; praise for Michael, praise for JMS..., even a little wee bit of praise for my post.

You're right. B5 fans are cool.

It made me feel quite sad though.

It made all of us feel sad, I think. Many people who were there admitted to shedding a tear or two listening to JMS that day. But...I think it says a lot for him that he chose to share what happened to a live group of fans. It probably would have been much easier for him to just post to FB or even go back to the old moderated newsgroup (where several mailing lists would have spread the word). Instead, even though it was obviously not easy for him to share a secret that he'd kept for so long, he wanted to tell the fans how much we/they'd meant to all of the 'absent friends' but especially how fans had actually helped Michael. So at the same time it made us feel sad, I think it made many of us feel proud, too, that all unknowing, Michael was able to be strengthened by the fans who came to meet him.
