Something Classy for JMS to Autograph? ... or ... What did/will he sign for you?

Bad news is you're not likely to find someone charging $20 unless you take the Babylon 4 Time Travel Express to 1999. Someone from C2E2 can probably confirm, but I'm guessing you're looking at $25 or $30. I'd love to be wrong on that.

Well, this is only a small sample but Pat Tallman was charging $20 this past weekend. Really, except for the big name cons like DragonCon and SDCC, I think $20 is usually average. Except as I said, for Bruce (I've seen him as high as $40) and Mira.

BTW, Sarthaz - regarding an odd aspect ratio and framing -Colleen Doran posted here for a while and she had a great tip. Get a standard frame and have the mat custom cut. It'll save you a bundle that way. I'm definitely keeping it in mind when/if I get all of my comic and concept art framed.

Well, yay to that! $20 was the industry standard for so long, but my experience in the last few years has been that everyone has gone up (logical inflation). Perhaps I've just been in the wrong places, tho $20 seems like the perfect sweet spot. Last time I saw Bruce, I don't recall what he was charging specifically, but I remember being surprised that it was pretty much the same as everyone else. It always irritates me when the bigger names of an ensemble piece charge something ridiculously exorbitant.

You've got Tricia Helfer, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, and Aaron Douglas all charging $25, and then Mary McDonnell's off to the side asking $80. Seriously? I get it, but it's just irritating. And if you look at it as paying them for their appearance at the con, it is uncommon that the bigger name is as interesting or as entertaining as the others (with apologies to Ben Browder and Nathan Fillion). Your Garret Wangs, Wil Whetons, and Aaron Douglases earn their keep as much if not more than a Kate Mugrew or Scott Bakula or Edward James Olmos. OK, OK, rant over

A few years ago I went to a con and Shatner went in the other direction and was doing his autographs for free! I was quite surprised. I got my copy of Wrath of Khan signed!

The *only* time he's ever charged was when he did a fundraiser for Hawthorne High School's art department - and that was only $1. He usually has a limit of how many items he'll sign (sometimes as few as five or as many as ten) and his autograph sessions are probably going to be scheduled rather than him just being at a table like the actors.

don't worry, I'm an experienced Con Goer, mostly discworld stuff admittedly but I can (for a modest fee) metaphorically hold your hand, if you want me to *literally* hold your hand, then there's a per minute fee, with hourly and daily rates negotiable.

Here is a confirmation that at C2E2 Mira was charging $25 and Bruce was charging $30. When asked while dealing with everyone in a very long line waiting for JMS to sign their free Ten Grand copy, Pat said she had to charge $20. It was a spur of the moment response and I think she was kind of trying to discourage people from asking. She was not at that event as a signer. She was there doing her new job.

I haven't read this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned yet. I received an email from the B5Books teams that said B5 actor's autographs would be $20 each. They say they confirmed it so that sounds official, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. One might imagine that having so many of them together as a feature of the con may encourage them to ask a lot more. Unless we get some new material this may be the last event for a long time that features B5, so they may try to milk it. I hope not. Of course, $20 is kind of ridiculous if you need everyone. That is another reason I want to go so bad. I have missed out on meeting many of the folks who will be at this one.

For all you generous souls out there, Looney needs signed 8x10s from Pat, Peter, Stephen, Jerry, Tracy, Andrea, Jason, and Robin. Just get one they have with them in a nice B5 pose that says 'To Joe,' before their signature. And, ah, Joe is a friend of mine, yeah, a friend who is really into B5. Yeah, it's for a friend. A friend of mine named Joe.

BTW: Bruce had multiple pens. I think Mira did too, though, I am not positive. I just remember I wanted her to use blue, but she used black.

And OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I want to go. I just thought of the freebies they might come up with. I am not saying they will, but just think of it if they did. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ! ! ! I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't want anyone to put themselves out. I know everyone has their own, very full, agenda and they don't need to spend time trying to get something done for me. Especially when there are so many. The ones I really want are Pat, Peter, Stephen, and Jerry and even that is too many for someone to take time for. I really appreciate the effort Jan, but if trying to help me hindered someone's experience I would feel really bad. Plus, I hate owing people, be it financial debt or a favor. That part of my post was meant to convey another reason I really want to be in Phoenix. I didn't really expect anyone to do anything about it. Thank you for trying to help, but I'll just have to try and catch them some other time.

The Kids Need to Read charity will be getting some signed photos for them to sell/auction, likely after the convention. I'll see if I can find out when that might happen. They also have one of the Season Four posters to get signed, which I donated.

I also have my season four posters, for which one of them I can finish it off at the convention so that I have everyone on it.

As I noted elsewhere, they are planning some group signings, I'll try to get that info here once it is finalized.

FYI, in checking the information I have access to, the B5 actors range from $20 to $30 for photos. Some, but not all, do charge extra for taking a photo of them at their table.
Some are listed as unknown but are likely $20 to $25 (i.e. not the major characters).
