  • Amazing B5 costume pictures

These are from the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. They currently have a Warner Brothers exhibit which includes some cool B5 stuff. I've read about how amazingly detailed the costumes were, but wow...

A fan got some pictures, posted here.

Would love to have seen all that up close and personal! This is kinda what I imagine Jan's house might look like if she had infinite resources!

*edit, more here. Some close ups of Kosh's encounter suit. Again, just wow...

Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

    Kosh: Good!

Yeah...pretty much. But don't forget props and concept art, too! It's great to know that these have been preserved and that WB includes them in exhibets.

I'm just glad that they're not lost and/or destroyed.

        That is no joke.

Those look awesome. So glad they are being preserved and exhibited. I wish I could go see them, but that would be a two thousand mile road trip I can't take right now.

          Wonderful photos.

from his post about the Vorlon's encounter suit...
"I would love to be able to take a look inside and see how the whole thing was put together, but oh well"

          er, no he wouldn't.

I don't know if you are joking or not.
Looking in side the suit might ruin the illusion of how it's made,

or... you might turn to stone.

I really like the "stained glass" aspect of the Vorlon suit.

Great pictures, thank you for sharing them, Ubik!

I remembered Triple-F posting a number of costume photos from the same exhibet on FB a while back and went in search. Found these:

According to Dr. Kyle, he would never be the same again.

Concept art, good idea! I remember years ago seeing an early concept drawing of Londo, it was black and white, (possibly pencil), and showed how his hair was originally going to look; still flared-up, but cropped to follow the contours of his head instead of fanning out. Despite hours of googling, I've never managed to find it again....

                  Any ideas?

Thanks Jan. Ever more exquisite detail in that thread (no pun intended)! The costume designers must have had a plenty of fun making such intricate garments. I WANT the Kosh encounter suit in my living room as a conversation piece, or to scare unsuspecting visitors with.

Don't go to Ubik's house, he'll eat your mind!

In Volume 8 of the script books, JMS posted some Peter Ledger line drawings of the characters. In the Londo one (in the casino, of course), there's no indication of unusual hair at all - it's barely over his collar.

Ah, here we go - the one in the script book is a B&W of the color drawing shown here: http://www.zteamproductions.com/b5char.html

                        Is that it?

These are really awesome, Ubik! What a shame we can't better appreciate how nice the costumes look by WATCHING THE SHOW ON BLU-RAY *hint, hint, WB, hellooooo!*.

Thanks for the cool link, Jan; those pictures are very cool! Bad sadly, as Zathras might say..., "Not the one...."

Cheers anyway! If anyone else has any clues, please post! I'm afraid I've had no luck....
