  • Londo Into Darkness

You guys might get a kick out of this.
The 'Into Darkness' movie trailer created quite a buzz and I thought it would be nice to see another spin applied to it's great dark narrative.

...and who's has a darker story to tell than Londo Mollari?
Though things were pretty grim for the Republic at the end of the series, the story continued to it's conclusion in the Centauri Prime trilogy novels by Peter David.

So check out my B5 version of the Into Darkness trailer on youtube.

Haha. Man, that's seriously awesome! Mad skills!

Just a thought, did you buy the recent 2.5 script book? The thing that immediately occurred to me when popping in the audio CD and using the book was 'Why on earth didn't they just make a movie synchronising the screen caps to the audio track'. This is quite easily with done, even with something as simple as iMovie. Would have given us full colour too!

Just a thought. Your skills may be of use to the Script Team?
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

Nice, DaveNarn! The scene of Londo accepting the Keeper always wreck me.

With the usual caveat that Captain Jaclyn would be the one to ask, my impression was that to do any more than was done would be to seriously bend the rules about what belongs to whom. While JMS owns the production tape, selling the video *as* video would be likely to seriously put WB's collective nose out of joint.

Ahh, I see. Then again, it would still just be a bunch of screen grabs set to audio. The exact same result as the book read with the audio CD. I can see that the distinction might upset WB though.

It would have made for a really nice viewing experience, it's something that could be done (by a fan) and circulated amongst those who bought the book. Just thinking out loud here. I will mention it to Captain Jaclyn as an idea, or perhaps Dave Narn might approach her if interested?

          Thanks!
When my copy of the SB 2.5 arrived it was the first thing I thought of.

In doing this project, the fun part was to use only clips that fit both the trailer's narrative and Londo's journey as they appeared in the episode order.

'Do you think your world is safe' and Mr. Mordon saying 'I'll be around', lol!

'A comforting lie told to protect you' was Londo's, at the death of Emperor Turhan for instance.

I used the same trailer for Enterprise too.

You should absolutely contact Jaclyn about doing this, perhaps with colour screen caps. It could be shared with those people who bought the book. (If that's something you'd like to do!)

FANTASTIC video, Dave! Great job matching scenes from 5 years of tv to one trailer's soundtrack.

Warner Brothers are really missing a trick at the Box Office, aren't they?

Maybe we should launch a campaign along the lines of...
"In recent years, a number of decades-old sci-fi shows have successfully made the leap from television to the big screen, resulting in huge financial gains for their respective production companies. These shows include STAR TREK, originally a tv show in the 1960s, and TRANSFORMERS from the 1980s, amongst others.

However, Warner Brothers' critically acclaimed tv epic from the 1990s, BABYLON 5, has yet to make the same transition, even though it is still reaching new audiences and new critical acclaim, its fanbase is still highly active, and the star of the show, Bruce Boxleitner, recently reprised his starring role of TRON in the Disney Blockbuster TRON LEGACY, and its writer and primary creative force, Joe Michael Straczynski, is now one of the most successful writers in the US film business, with credits for films as diverse as CHANGELING and THOR.

With STAR TREK, TRANSFORMERS, GI JOE, TRON, GHOSTBUSTERS, THE HOBBIT, STAR WARS and many other franchises about to launch new films in their respective series, surely now is the time to revive this epic show as a multi-million dollar feature film?

              What do ya reckon, gang?

Of course, if such a film did go ahead, I'd feel very sad that Michael O'Hare is no longer with us to make a flashback appearance, but if Valen could somehow be -whoa!- that reminds me; for legal reasons we shouldn't discuss movie ideas! But otherwise...

              ...what do ya reckon, gang?

I'd love to see a rebooted movie, re-cast everyone, do something fresh with it.

I guess that prequels are universally loathed but I'd still like to see the war that formed the league of Non-Aligned Worlds against the Dilgar.

The early Earth Alliance ships sounded pretty cool.
If you take jet fighter dogfight stories from land and carrier bases and replace the term RADAR with Sensor, you would have some very kick-a$$ stories!

Space: Above and Beyond had a good start as a series doing this. It following a squadron of marines on a space carrier.

                      Thanks Jan

I'm thinking the next time I do one of these, it will feature Minbari, definitely something with Neroon.
