JMS hasn't weighed in yet and I don't think anybody's asked since he made it pretty clear that he simply can't say anything more than he has.

I did find these two posts from 2001 though that indicate to me that it's likely to be Christopher Franke again.

I haven't talked to Chris yet, but I can't imagine doing another project in the
        B5 universe without him.

Yes, that was really all there was to that particular decision. Crusade (by my
original plan at least) was gradually going to grow into a somewhat
experimental show, and I wanted the sound to reflect that...something
        definitely non-Western in origin.

My vote is for someone who has done big screen big cinema sound. Franke would be in the running with
          Howard Shore
          John Williams
          Hans Zimmer
          Basil Poledouris

and the like. Before B5 I would have said Franke and his days with Tangerine Dream would not lend itself to majestic themes, or Shore, to do the LOTR suite so I am open to new possibilities. I just want it to be big. I play the No Surrender No Retreat Suite on the S4 DVD over and over and find it very powerful.

Yeah. I imaginizing that i'm sitting at the cinema and watching on the screen that show announcement. Then it's getting darker. The screen becomes black and i see the WB logotype someway changed to become more babylon related (as is was in Matrix) and hear Franke's music. Then screen becomes black again and i hear a bass sound of flying near Star Fury. After that some great special effects begin: camera flying around the Star Fury which flying around it's target like it was in Thirdspace (closerange firing). And all of this is followed by great dolby sound effects and related Franke's music.

            I cant wait!

The question is what will be the target and what year that will happen.

I had a dream once about seeing B5 on an IMAX screen, the ones that're 3 stories tall.

                Sigh....

Sorry, Cronan! Maybe they'll be smart and have a simutaneous worldwide release? We can hope!

Over the years JMS has made it pretty clear that Franke is his preferred composer for things closely-related to B5 itself, while he'd try to use Evan Chen for any remake or extension of Crusade. So I think the most probable choice for The Memory of Shadows is Christopher Franke.

Those are great choices. Really great but if these are the types of names we are looking at, how about....

                      Danny Elfman
                      James Newton Howard
                      Alan Silvestri

Or one of my current faves James Horner.

That said, I do believe JDM has it called corrrectly in that CF will eventually do the honours. It would seem more fitting that way, that if B5 REALLY does make it to the big screen, then as many of the original elements that made it a success would be expected to return, perhaps by JMS just as much as anyone.

Still, any one of the greats named so far would be spectacular.

Well... several recent "genre" movies such as Harry Potter 3 and Spider Man 2 have been shown in IMAX screens (at least that's true in Houston), so maybe it will happen...
I have not felt the urge to see any other film on IMAX, but I would for B5:TMoS (but by the time the film opens I have no idea where I'll be located so I may not get the chance).

I'm as sure as one(*) can be at this stage that Christopher Franke will be the score composer.

(*) One is not intending to mean everyone, one is just using "one" here as a genderless pronoun.

While we're tossing around favorite film score composers, let me add in the name of Elliot Goldenthal. His score for "Interview with the Vampire" is one I can listen to over and over.

(And Capt. Montoya, I'm not going to leap at your throat every time you use "one" as a genderless pronoun, I promise! <g>)

Horner can do fine work, as demonstrated by films like An American Tail, but he seems to fall into a horrible pattern of self-plagiarism when it comes to anything in the action-adventure-SF arena. His scores for The Wrath of Khan, Krull and Aliens are almost indistinguishable. I wouldn't want to let him anywhere near TMoS, I'd end up humming the score before seeing the movie.

I would like to see Christopher Franke reassemble the whole Tangerine Dream and then have them do the filmscore... Ooooooo! Anyone remember "Deliverance"...?
