  • Hyperspace and the Vorlons (some spoilers)

I was just rewatching Into the Fire today and noticed that the only First Ones who use the sort of hyperspace jump points that the younger races use. The Shadows "phaze" in and out, and the few other first ones we meet have similarly different ways.
It only just occurred to me that perhaps it's the Vorlon influence that leads everyone to use that sort of technology for hyperspace travel. I remember some comments about how no one knew who made the jumpgate network, and that it had been done long before anyone could remember. Presumably that could have been the Vorlons. Has there been anything that would support either proposition?

I never heard who created the first jump gates, but "Thirdspace" makes me think the Vorlons understand it very well. It could be the level of interaction between the Vorlons and the younger races in their capacity of "shepards".
The other First Ones didn't seem to care what the younger races thought so didn't bother to continue to depend on them. The Vorlons may also be trying to appear less powerful by using a conventional technology as part of their decption, as in wearing encounter suits.

Great post, I love the attention to detail that was put into this show.
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

"I try never to get involved in my own life, too much trouble."
