  • A song for Delenn?

You may have guessed by my username that Delenn is my favorite character on Babylon 5. I love her character quite a lot for these particular reasons because she was spiritual, curious, intelligent, beautiful, and wise.

And because she was selfless, courageous, and strong. She had a smile that could light up the universe, but at the same time she was imperfect and weak and occasionally made mistakes. In other words she was awesome!!!!!!!!!

When I first started B5 in season one she was the first thing that drew me in. I just absolutely fell in love with her character. I also loved her and Sheridan's relationship together. It was beautiful and sad. But all in all I watched for Delenn. (Even though I do believe that Babylon 5 is the greatest tv show in all tv history) It just wouldn't have been without her. IMO

Anyway, I am a wannabe writer trying to create a similar character to Delenn and I was wondering if anyone had ever heard a song that they felt represented Delenn's character? Makes you think that it could be talking about her, or makes you think of her?

    Anyone?

For me, it's "Sleeping Sun" by the Finnish group Nightwish.
The song always makes me think of SIL, and to this day I think their singer might have some Mimbari in her

That's awesome that someone actually wrote a song about her! Part of me loves it, but I also remember reading somewhere that Mira felt uncomfortable about that scene with the cramps. That she found it degrading to Delenn's character.

Mira is not Delenn, but she represented her for five years so I am in a strait betwixt two here with this song. Thank you for the link though

Also thank you, Fourmyle of Ceres, "Sleeping with the sun" is a beautiful song and it did give me a definitele SIL vibe

we're running with the Shadows of the night...

Shadows of the Night by Pat Benatar?

I don't know about Delenn in particular, but for the Mimbari in general, they might appreciate "Three Is a Magic Number"
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

"I try never to get involved in my own life, too much trouble."

So far Nightwish"s Sleeping Sun is just about perfect.

I added it to my playlist.

Say what you will about Schoolhouse Rock, but I can *still* recite the preamble to the Constitution.

To get "Three is a Magic Number" out of your head, try this...

                      "Conjunction Junction"

"That was the law, as set down by Valen. Three castes: worker, religious, warrior."

Isn't that the equivalent of curing a head ache by hitting yourself over the head with a sledgehammer?

I really actually like the Blind Melon version of that song, I listen to it in my ipod.

I guess there's no hope for me.
