Oh, dear, that was rather juvenile, wasn't it? I've never been the first poster to a forum, though so I couldn't resist.

I'm not quite a 'First One' since I didn't catch the pilot when it showed originally. I did start watching form the first episode though and fell in love with it pretty much immediately.

B5 is the only show I've ever gotten involved to the point of being a (capital f) Fan. I love going to cons and meeting JMS and the actors and meeting and emailing other fans.

My pride and joy is my script collection. Right now, at least until JMS comes up with a new B5 project, I have all but 2 of the episodes, Crusade and the MOWs. I've corresponded with many nice crew members as I've emailed them looking for items for the collection. Every single one has been as helpful as they could be which just reinforces my theory that B5 folk are good folk.

Okay, enough rambling. And thanks, Doug!

Don't worry. I suspect that I'm not going to be the only other one posting here who has done the same thing when the opportunity has presented itself...

I did see the pilot when it first aired. I thought it was very promising. I also thought that the concept of having the show's creator participating online as it was produced and aired was an amazing concept, even though it took a couple more years before I had a) the time and b) the nerve to actually participate in the discussions with him.

(I still insist that sometime over the first couple of seasons, one of the lurkers Down Below was dedicated to me.

Really? Methinks I detect a story there. Care to elaborate?

Jan, thanks for getting this forum off to good start.

Wow, sounds like a nice collection.

That reminds me, I picked up a copy of the special edition Sleeping in Light script at the San Diego Comic-Con this year. It is signed by JMS. I plan to give it away in some sort of drawing on the site later this year. It is supposed to contain deleted material which I need to read before I let it go.

Well, no story, really. It's just something I came up with.

I was a lurker, on Compuserve and (for a while) on GEnie, back before the pilot was even announced, and JMS made it clear that the Lurkers were named in honor of those of us who remained silent.

When I later started speaking up, I decided to claim one of the extras for myself, and JMS didn't raise any objections...

            Here's what they are

            **SPOILERS**

First, the Ivanova scene with the publicist is extended. The schmuck who came in with the Ranger is given a typical Ivanova talking down-to, and then she transfers him to latrine duty (No, I am not making this up).

Second, it's revealed the whole B5 story was a re-creation done by ISN some time in the future.

Then there's a bit (that was filmed) to show at the very end, with jms (not named in script, just identified as a writer) being wheeled down the hallway on a stretcher, clutching his keyboard. I know it was filmed, as I've seen the bloopers and this is on it.

The other change is the voiceover at the beginning "20 years..." was done by Ivanova, not Garibaldi.

              Great!

The forums are the First One of several improvements it seems...
Thanks to DougO for the archive and the new boards.

OmahaStar: Thanks for posting that. I've been very curious about what was the extra stuff in the script.

Discussing one of those spoilers I'll say that one of them really isn't, but I'll mark it as such just in case.

              SPOILER:

(select text below if needed for legibility)

The series being an ISN production is hinted at before the pictures of the cast and crew show. IIRC they say "now something special for those that watched this ISN special presentation" right before. I always interpreted that as referring to the series as if it had been a miniseries shown in ISN.

              End of Spoiler.

Very cool guys, always love seeing or hearing more about stuff that got passed over for one reason or another.

It's really fascinating, how everything came together to make the show as good as it was. I'd learned a lot from reading the scripts. Joe's really detailed, but the actors really brought out nuances that weren't apparent to this non-actor sort, that's for sure.

Another cool thing was seeing some producer's/director's cuts of some of the episodes. These are the starting point of the editing process and don't have CGI or even very much music. Quite a number of scenes are a touch longer than what we see, but I think the finished product was best. The one for 'A Late Delivery from Avalon' actually had music on it that never made it to the episode. IIRC, Joe'd decided that he wanted more of a Celtic sound.

It was really a team effort and every time I run across anybody who worked on the show I make sure to thank them.

The scripts, the show, the scripts, the videos, the scripts, the show, the DVDs, the scripts, the show ...actually just about everything except the action figures. Oh, and did I mention that I really like the scripts a lot?

Seriously, (and not to sound braggy, I hope) I was *so* lucky to find the crewmember I did and buy his collection. He had all but about 7 of the episodes and even had the unproduced Crusade scripts and the unproduced 5th season script written by Bill Mumy and Peter David. It's just been fascinating to read them all.

So. If any of you ever see a legal (ei: not copied) version of #414 - Moments of Transition or #520 Wheel of Fire (filmed as The Alien Inside) *PLEASE* drop me an email! Thanks!

So can you tell us something about the Mumy/David script?
What's the story? Is it good?

                        Please spoil me!
