Folks won't be able to see that unless they're registered with FB, I think.

    Fans of J. Michael Straczynski:
Just turned in what one hopes will be the last revision on Shattered Union for Bruckheimer, and moving on to start writing on Vanishing Point, also for Bruckheimer (these are intended as big tent-pole summer movies)...got word that the B5 r...elated stuff is still proceeding along, just can't say anything yet...artwork on Superman Earth One volume 2 is coming along swimmingly, looks great, with lots of funny stuff, personal stuff and cool action with a redesigned Big Bad familiar to Superman fans...have accepted an invite to talk at the Lake Arrowhead Writers Guild Conference in June (only open to WGA members)...the Houdini screenplay for Dreamworks is being budgeted and sent to directors...I just did a short piece for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund's yearly Liberty Comic...and I'll be going out to the networks to pitch a couple of projects to develop for next year. Otherwise it's pretty quiet.
    Then:

Re: the B5 thing...I'm not being coy, it's just that over the years, it's like B5 has been the football, the fans (and I to a degree) have been Charlie Brown, and the studios/networks have dutifully executed their role as Lucy. Consequently, I'm not saying anyTHING to anyONE for any REASON until I know for a stone cold fact that there's ink on contracts and we're moving ahead on something of substance.

So still no announcement yet, just a pre-pre-announcement that something is still going on.
Maybe we should send a few gallons of ink over to WB, so they can get those contracts signed already...

What struck me as odd is do we really need to remake Vanishing Point and how much that interest came from QT's Deathproof. Other then that is more a no comment, but at least we know there are contracts out there, so that is positive thing.

Am I the only one imagining JMS with knowing grin on his face while typing "I'm not saying anyTHING to anyONE for any REASON"? There must be some inside joke/hint in the way he chose that capitalisation as e.g. my understanding of how "ANYthing" would be emphasised in this context differs...

Oh well, let's ask him in a year... or start grinning ourselves when we "get it" after a future announcement

Joe's commented on Vanishing Point before and said his script has nothing to do with the old movie of the same name.

It's not a remake of it. Different story, just has the same title.

I think it's more "everyone does it this way, I'll do it another"

It's normal to accent things that way when the first syllable/word is the same.

Same way the gatekeeper of Oz does it.

Maybe there is a Thing not to tell, after all, if there wasn't a thing then we wouldn't be waiting for it.

Maybe he hasn't even told himself yet, so he can't tell us because he hasn't told him, self, yet.
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

I Love JMS's analogy to the Charlie Brown/Football & Lucy scenario. I couldn't agree more. If memory serves me correctly, the studio has been taunting JMS about B5 for years. Yet, they can't make a firm commitment to even get the kick off to a new B5 project. So just when JMS thinks that there may be a potential green light to kick off a new B5 project, the studio, like Lucy, yank the potential project away from him.

No 'if anything' about it. Something is happening that pertains to B5 but yes, it could still fall through. And now we know that the silence isn't a bad thing.

                            I love B5, I love JMS...

I just hope that those two major loves of mine collide.

Well hello all. I think it's been around 5 years since I posted around here. Good to see some familiar faces still kicking about, not to mention 'Auntie Jan'

Anyway, it's truely great to hear we have some news finally. Even if it's just to tell us there is no news yet, lol. But things do, indeed, seem to be moving once again.
Let's just hope it's not another non-starter like TMoS was.
