What we know: JMS will be at Comic-Con. Pat Tallman will be there, too. JMS will have a spotlight. Pat will have a new book available. So far the Comic-Con schedule for Thurs/Fri/Sat is up and only the two panels for JMS (Superman and his spotlight) are mentioned. No panels mention Pat so far but she's mentioned two autograph sessions.

What we don't know: Everything else.

Can somebody tell me the difference between a makeover and a reboot "a la original Trek"?

I look forward to any Babylon 5, big screen or TV that JMS is involved in. I honestly can't see he would be on board to re tell the original five year story at this juncture. That would be something for 20 - 50 years in the future from now. Even then I can't see it would be necessary as Babylon 5 main strength was its story and the characters within, so will probably still be the greatest science-fiction series ever.

I hope that we are talking about a Babylon 5 movie and a new Babylon 5 universe series at the same time. Hopefully this series will be airing while the movie is being made. That would show some ambition from Warner Brothers !

Agreed. No need to remake B5 with new actors. Absolutely no need. I feel about this like G'Kar felt about being reborn. He'd already been born, and quite sufficiently, he thought.

I'd like to see Crusade finished, with the original actors. I'd like to see the Telepath War story told, with the original actors, preferrably in a TV miniseries, because, as a theatrical release, I can't see it doing better than Firefly's "Serenity," and that was considered to be a financial failure. I'd also like to see the Shadow War of ~1258 told, but it'd be in the same boat that "Serenity" was. At least, the 1258 war could use a largely new cast.

It seems to me that a B5 theatrical release now is doing things bass ackwards and that a strong TV presence should be there BEFORE a feature film should be released. Otherwise, you could have a feature film flop to put the final nail in B5's coffin.

But I'm sure I've made my position on this really, really clear numerous times already. :-)

I wouldn't mind a "parallel story" that involved other characters and was told from their point of view during the course of the events already covered, but that really wouldn't be a NuTrek reboot.

Maybe calling it a reboot is an overgeneralization (they are rampant, remember people compared B5 to DS9 because they were both set at a space station, oh yeah there was no difference there, right? ). Also saying "like NuTrek" could be an attempt to drum up popularity for financial purposes since that movie made so damn much.

Getting closer? Posted on facebook by Joe in reference to the Harlan book announcement:

This is a separate announcement [from the big B5 announcement], I'll have something to say on the other matter before comiccon.
So now it looks we only have a couple of weeks to go, comic con starting on July 21.

I TRY to forget it, but so far, Lyta's mindwipes have been ineffective in removing it. Maybe she's slipping.

THANK YOU, JAN! That was killing me, not knowing that quote. Seems appropriate for the current situation, doesn't it?
