  • Another piece of Babylon 5 rescued

I know some of you have been following the saga of me buying the G'Kar chest piece, first seen in Season 1's "The Parliament of Dreams" and again several times after. Well, the chest has arrived! It's now safe in my possession, and though it is definitely showing signs of age, I feel certain I can keep it from degrading further for at least a few years, and we can all be happier knowing it's out of the hands of professional memorabilia dealers and owned by someone who loves and respects the show.

I've got to figure out what to do with it — maybe a nice plexiglass presentation box — but will eventually take some pictures and will post a link.

I'm interested to know who else owns a piece of the show's history, and what that piece is. Would be great if you could post here and tell us all! I know Jan's got a LIST. :-) I don't have an exhaustive list, but I do have a set-used Psi Corps pin (the kind that sets off Carolyn), and my favorite/most-used B5 possession, one of the season 3 cast/crew jackets, complete with patches (an Army of Light sword-and-shield, a (classic) Ranger patch, and a pilot's wings patch with my name embroidered on it, just like the cast all have!).

The one piece of the show I wish I had but will never have? The Book of G'Quan.

The only thing that I have is a Cast Crew & Jacket from Crusade. I have a Babylon 5 Jacket also, but it's a Club Jacket with the Babylon 5 Starburst design on the back (it's not an actual Cast & Crew Jacket).

I'm sure I've posted this link before but here are pics of my little 'museum'. For those who've seen it before, I've just added the Minbari bone prosthetic.

Thanks for posting the link, Jan. It was fun to see all of those again (and hey, I remember those napkins!). What's one item you'd love to have that you don't have?

Hmmm...that's tough. Okay, one of the things that JMS sold in his 'garage sale' a while back was a porcelain statue of the Na'kal'een Feeder. I just fell in love with it and would have loved to have it. Something I *never* saw but would love to have would be one of Delenn's post-Chrysalis outfits. They were just so beautiful.

Thanks. I'm pretty proud of the script collection in particular. Most of them came from one person but it took a long time to gather up the few that he didn't have. And they've come in very useful over the years.

I think B5 was an important show, both as SF and as drama and while I can't afford much, I try to grab what I can when I can.

            Anybody else?

I was just thinking that the Sheridan Teddy Bear would be really great to have, just for the fun

Thanks. I lost a lot more auctions for the concept art than I won, that's for sure! There were two in particular that I *really* wanted: The scene of Londo walking to his coronation and the one of Sheridan and Delenn arriving on Minbar at the new ISA facility and walking along the path surrounded by stained glass windows.

The set models were bought from a guy who found them in an unused file cabinet in dusty boot boxes. I lost auctions for the customs set and one other, as I recall. My favorite is C&C with the two levels and little steps.

Yeah, that'd be really cool! Hopefully they'd sew up the place where they impaled him in order to 'fly' him through space.

Next thing I need to add to the site is some stickers that were intended for use on the show and a couple of plastic screen display overlays- as soon as I figure out how to display them. Over and over I'm impressed with the level of detail that they took on the show.
