  • What if...

I've been putting a couple of replies on recently to different posts and for some reason I keep referring to Crusade...

...which got me to thinking. Ignore what we know about where it was going to go in the first season, and instead think of what we, as fans, would have liked to have seen happen in the show.

It's the B5 universe we know and love, there's things out there still unexplained, but what are they, and where are they?!?

So guys and girls, get your thinking caps on and your creative juices flowing, and stick a post on to say what you would have liked to have seen if the show had stayed on the air. It can be one plot point, it can be a bit of dialogue, some character development or even your own five year arc. Anything you want

(Story Idea) To start everyone off, I wanted a scene where they were all playing cards:
Max – I’m sorry, but I don’t trust him (Matheson).
Gideon – I beg your pardon?
Matheson – It’s okay, I understand. If you’ll excuse me Captain.
Gideon – No, wait, sit down.
    Matheson – Sir?
Gideon – Do you want me to make it an order, John? Sit, and its Matthew in here (turning to Max). And you, don’t you ever question his integrity. If you do that again, I’ll leave you at the next planet we come across, habitable or not.
    Max – He’s a telepath.
Gideon – She’s a thief (Dureena), she’s more liable to cheat than him. No offence.
    Dureena – None taken.
Max – You don’t take offence at that?
    Dureena – No.
    Max – Why not?
    Dureena – Because it’s true.

Sorry, I, Z...we decided a long time ago that we wouldn't post story ideas/fan fiction here. It's not that we think JMS reads here or that he might come and play here but the invitation is always open to him, so no story ideas allowed.

What if the crusade series had succeeded then there would never have been the legend of the rangers!

More pertinently, what if TNT hadn't decided to cripple Crusade by bundling the rights to take over the show with the re-run rights for B5 and then charging so much for them?

Sci-Fi Channel would then have been able to afford to take on and continue Crusade as they wanted to, but couldn't afford.

That decision still boggles my mind. Why do it, it doesn't seem to make any sense

While we may learn more in the upcoming Crusade script books*, what JMS has indicated in the past is that it wasn't about making sense, common sense or business sense. Someone at some level at TNT decided that if Crusade succeeded, it would make TNT look bad so they ensured that the show couldn't go elsewhere.

*With a title like Crusade: What the Hell Happened, I think that's a given.

Who knows they may have been shooting new epsiodes of crusade now, but as it stands, Lost Tales is the last entry when it comes to anything being shot B5 related recently....

Pure spite, by definition, doesn't make any sense. e.g. Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

I think also it would be a great advertisment of TNT's incompetence if another cable channel picked it right up and did well with it.
TNT had an interest in protecting it's massive ego.
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

"I try never to get involved in my own life, too much trouble."
