  • Telepath War

Hi, my first post to the forum.

I'm a big fan of Babylon 5, seen the TV, the films, got the DVD's, and read quite a few of the books. I wish we had the film or book dealing with the telepath war. Some of the books skirt round this and hint about it. I've always suspected that JMS was saving this for a major feature film but with the passage of time, and the sad loss of some of the actors, I feel that this will not now happen.

So that leaves the book. Knowing how JMS planned Babylon he 'must' have the story (hopefully). So how about it JMS, I'll buy the book, and I'm certain so will all of the fans. At least a short story to put us out of our misery as to what happen to some of the characters.

    Thanks for Babylon.

    Hi AstroJohn, and welcome.

JMS doesn't post here and as far as we know, doesn't read these forums, either. The best places to post where he might see it would be via the moderated newsgroup or his Facebook Fan page.

Something to bear in mind is that Warner Bros. owns all rights to Babylon 5 except for feature film rights which JMS holds. It would be up to a publishing company to approach WB to even begin the process of bringing out another B5 book.

You're right, though, that JMS has skirted around the Telepath War up to now. He did mention the possibility of doing something with it when the Lost Tales were still a possibility so I don't think he's given up on telling that story someday.

    Let's hope, anyway.

Its much less about the telepaths, more about bringing back B5 to the big or small screen!!! There's enough content in the B5 universe to make something new!!

B5 should be back with a vengance!! Even if the station may have become destructed and one or two of the key actors have passed away..(R.I.P) in their memory it should be back!!

Is it a film, a book, or TV

Thanks for your replies. Just can't see B5 turning into a major film, the last two TV specials had a feel of being done on a budget (they were still good) but the sets lacked somethink.

Bringing it back on TV... I can't see this happening either as I don't believe it had the same following as Star Trek (blowing up the Enterprise didn't stop it). The B5 series was some of the best SiFi on TV, well written, good acting and characters, great musical score, and for the time outstanding CGI. We are lucky that JMS got the 5 years to tell the story he wanted to tell. But I really, really would like to know about the telephy wars.

Have a good New Year, I'm full of flu so be watching the B5 films currently showing on FX.

That's an old discussion, but the gist of it is that right now JMS has enough clout to do a B5 film if he comes up with a story he wants to tell, and there are very vague possibilities of a new B5 series.

I agree with Jonas, just because the B5 TV movies were done on a limited budget doesn't mean thats all they can remain, it could be massive if done right!!

Bringing it back to TV well seeing as the station only had another 20-30 + years to "live" after season 5, it doesn't neccessarily have to go back to B5 but somewhere within the B5 universe, why not is what I say...ie a new space-port opens in the memory of B5 and all for what it stood for, to carry on its legacy or something like that....
