  • OT: Captain Jaclyn Request

Note from Captain Jaclyn posted here for visibility:

I need a geeky B5 fan (no, not redundant) who lives in the UK.

There's a BBC show about my dad on the BBC website but they won't let me see it or download it because I'm in the US. There is a download link that will let you download a version "for portable devices" 220MB. That is the one I want. It's called "The Man Who Recorded America"
Documentary about 1960s record label Elektra Records, run by suave visionary Jac Holzman.

The fan can then send me the file via www.YouSendIt.com without an account, totally free. They can use [email protected] with ATTN JACLYN in the subject line.

The first one to get me the file will get any B5 book currently available completely free including shipping. This offer is also good toward a future B5 book if they have everything...and really, why wouldn't they?

    Thanks!
    Captain Jaclyn
Anybody who can help, please post here after sending the file and I'll close this thread. Thanks, folks!

I was going to do it but for some reason it says I need to update my copy of windows media player to download it (currently itÆs v9) Went to do that and it says I need Windows service pack 3 to use the newest version, IÆll be buggered if IÆm installing that as well . . . . . Sorry.

But thereÆs plenty of other UK folks hanging around here (hopefully with more up to date software installed ; )

I don't know if they still do it, as I haven't needed to for so long, but the BBC used to be prepared to send out a legit copy of some programmes on VHS, free of charge except shipping. It may be worth asking the question, particularly in light of the family connection with the subject of the programme.

Editted to add ... Just tried to send the file and YouSendIt will not permit a file that size to be sent without a subscription (or a one off fee of $9.99). Cheaper than a B5 book I know, but I haven't the time to sort that out right now as I need to be elsewhere 10 minutes ago.

Jaclyn/Jan - PM me tomorrow, if no one else has come up with the goods and I will sort it.

I just sent the file. Garabaldi's hair is right, YouSendIt has a 100mb cap on files, so I had to use a different service. Capt Jacyln shouldn't have any problem viewing it on a computer or viewing it on a portable device. If she does let me know, and I can send it in whatever file she wants.

Hope it's ok I don't live in the UK...

Yeah, well, the rent is cheap, the pay is decent and I get to make my own hours.
