  • JMS reassures

As I stated to all who've had negative thoughts that TMoS is dead in the water, things are slowed down slightly but still very much alive...and JMS says so.

    >2. Does the recent death of Richard Biggs mean that the B5:MoS project
    >has been cancel(l)ed or postponed?

It's resulted in a slowdown to make changes and adjust things.
This is just how things work in the biz.

And this confirms the prior speculation that Dr. Franklin would have had a role in TMoS, which has to be re-written around his absence.
A touch of sadness for me in those happy news...
Such... is the respect paid to science that the most absurd opinions may become current, provided they are expressed in language, the sound of which recalls some well-known scientific phrase

I have no doubts that JMS will eventually do B5:MOS. I am looking forward to it. It will be bittersweet because Richard Biggs is gone, but we will have it nonetheless. It would be GREAT to see Biggs there. Whoever takes his place (even Dr. Hobbs) will do an excellent job.

Once it becomes official news that TMoS is a feature film (or whatever it is), will they put it up at IMDb? I have searched for "The Memory of Shadows" and "Babylon 5" and there isn't anything yet. Which is great, as IMDb is supposed to be definitive, not just another rumor site.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Reading my own post, that last line may have come off as sarcastic, but it wasn't. I meant that IMDb doesn't just put up a page for a rumored movie.

yes they do. They've had pages for Ghostbusters III and Subspecies V for years.

I think it's a rule of thumb by now that unless a pictrure is in active production, the IMDB is a shakey at best resource for any information they may have about films "In development". Caveat emptor. (Or however that's spelled...)

Just thought I would let you all know, that my inside source reported to me yesterday that last Friday, WB and JMS submitted to ILM to bid for TMoS Visual Effects. Reportedly, they have also asked WETA to bid.

This means we're getting closer to the announcement hopefully. If they're locking in FX companies, then they should annouce fairly soon.

                  Just thought I'd share.

ILM could do some great space shots, but I hope they don't do any characters. Jar Jar Binks and Yoda turned out horrible, to me.

ILM & weta (LORD OF THE RINGS!!!)

The only thng I Can think...

( if it is true - CE - and don't for one minute think I am doubting - you seem to be one of the most knowledgable on here )

is how monstrously epic in scale this film might be....

and if ILM or WETA get their hands on it - well it could be something really special.

But we knew that anyway didnt we guys ( and gals )?

WETA is the FX house that did all of the LOTR films and basically handed ILM their hat as they booted them out of the #1 FX house position whilst putting ILM to shame.

It was WETA that made Lucas show RoTK to his people and say, "We have to do better."

Of course, there are a lot of ex-ILMers at WETA. People who didn't care for the Lucasfilm environment.

Out of these two houses, give me WETA, their work is nothing less than spectacular and far above what ILM is turning out these days.

                            Characters are within JMS control.
It's the Script that determines how they act, not the CGI company.

The problems with jar jar, etc. were in George Lukas Script, not ILM's work building them.

And JMS doesn't do Cute Characters designed to sell Action Figures

It was ... cute. I hate cute.
