I just busted these out again after watching season 1 so I could re-read them (been a few years). I read the first four issues so far which is the first story arc in there. I enjoyed it a bit.

Spoiiiiiller for those who don't have:

It was a little bit of a generic "trial of the captain" type of sci-fi storyline while everyone tried to find evidence to prove him innocent. I find the first issue much more interesting, as JMS actually wrote that one personally rather than just handing the story off.

Sinclair actually *meets* with President Clark about his new post, which I find really interesting, since the original script of the first episode of season 2 had President Clark calling Ivanova to inform her of the new commander, which was later taken out. Looks like he got that plot thread in there somewhere else where it made better sense.

I own that one, I have them all together in the Price of Peace comic. I also have the individual In Valen's name comics.

I read to dream in the city of sorrows, and it mentioned the trial so I wanted to get POP for that. City of sorrows also mentions Neroon trying to kill Sinclaire by attacking him in the dark. Does anyone know if that is talking about what happened in the tv show episode Legacies or was it a separate incident that happened on Minbar? And if it was a separate incident is it shown in a different comic?

I'm up to issue 6 of the comics so far, sinclair hasn't had an attempted murder in it. Neroon was prosecuting him but that's it. So I assume that refers to legacies. The next arc in the comic book has to do with "the Coming of Shadows" so it doesn't really have sinclair in it other than in Garibaldi flashbacks. However - that arc of issues 5-8 gives some good backstory into Sinclair/Garibaldi that's not anywhere else.

Yep, this is where Joe managed to get in the important Sinclair back story once Michael O'Hare was gone from the show; these issues were based on Joe's outline. The story of Garibaldi and Sinclair's meeting is also mentioned in a passing reference in "Infection" when Garibaldi is talking to the reporter.

I just appreciate the little extra detail being given to us, whether in novel or comic format. I really hope that with JMS at DC that we get a little more B5. I think I'm going to write DC and suggest it

Unfortunately, Garibaldi didn't mention Sinclair by name in the episode, so it's just those who know about the backstory from the comics who get the hint who the mentioned friend is.

Also, in To Dream in the City of Sorrows, the novel makes numerous references back to the first DC Comics story-arc (where Sinclair is charged with treason after arriving on Minbar, et cetera).

The sheer number of cross-references between print media and the actual TV episodes in this franchise is, frankly, staggering.

I'd say the series was well written and planned all around.
