  • Sleeping in Light Questions

I was watching this with a friend the other day and I'm wondering a couple of things that I don't remember the answers to pertaining to Zach.

    1. Why is he wearing the EA uniform when he was wearing the army of light uniform even through season 5? Is that ever mentioned? That seems to be a conscious decision.

    2. Why is he limping? Did they mention what happened to him anywhere?

I remember he says something about re-enlisting, which should explain the uniform. Can't remember anything about the limping though.

JMS posted that he'd pictured Zack doing something heroic and losing the leg and, just as his uniforms never fit right, the prosthetic didn't quite fit.

If you have the DVD, you can watch with comentary from JMS. He explains the episode.

The one thing that always bugged me about the Zach scenes in SiL was that the all powerful Rangers of the all powerful InterStellar Alliance could not find a guy in Earth Force working on the same damn space station where he was connected to "The One" to send him an email inviting him to a party.

To me that was the only clunky part of an amzing episode.

Hey, space is big, time was short, and the EarthForce bureaucracy was messy. With all our technology nowadays, we still manage not to find easily found people sometimes.

I'm sure the Rangers could have and would have found Zack...it's just that they didn't in time for the party which, from all appearances was very soon after the invitations were received.

Anyway, it was nice for Sheridan to meet a friend on the almost deserted station.

We live for the One, we die for the One, unless there is paperwork involved.

Its not like they did not know anyone in EarthForce, like say an EarthForce General also going to the same party.

Well, they mention Babylon 5 being given back to the Earth Alliance a few years back (in my mind circa 2279, when Sheridan and Delenn swapped jobs) and so it would seem likely that the crew would have to start wearing Earthforce uniforms again.
