  • Speculate: A New Galactic World Order under the Shadows?

Assume, just for a moment, that something happened. Sheridan went to Zha'dum and didn't jump, and was killed. Or Delenn never met Sinclair, and so Babylon 4 never went back in time. Or Sheridan, Delenn and Ivanova spontaneous combusted at the same time.

Whatever. The point is that the war was lost, and the Shadows kicked the Vorlons out, or destroyed them. Lorien never came into the picture, as Sheridan never met him to bring him back with him to Babylon 5 and marshall the First Ones.

    So...

In a New World Order throughout the galaxy, under the Shadows, what would have happened? We know from Lorien and from Kosh, and from Jeremiah (was it?) that the Shadows did not want to destroy the galaxy, just shake things up a bit, make the strong come to the fore.

So who would have profited, and who would have lost? Which races would have become dominant, and which gone under? Would the Centauri have continued, and expanded, their war of agression against their neighbours, and how would that have played out? Would the Narns even exist, without a place like B5 as sanctuary? How would Earth fit in to the New Order, remembering the influence the Shadows had with Psi Corps and EarthGov?

And without Sheridan to lead the rebellion against Clark, could he have been deposed, after the war, or would his alliances with the Shadows and Psi Corps have made him invincible?

In other words, what if ... the worst had come to pass? How bad would it have been?

Sorry, Trollheart, we don't do story ideas or fanfic here. Not that we think that JMS reads here and needs to be protected from story ideas, it's more to be hospitable if he ever does decide to visit. It was decided by the members some time back.

And while speculation is okay, and that's what you're asking for, people answering will need to be *very* careful not to stray into story ideas.

I see. Then, to quote Alexei Sayle, in a parody of a Monty Python sketch: "Well that's buggered up THAT sketch, hasn't it?"
Ah well, rules is rules I guess.
If anyone is interested in commenting, can they contact me privately?
Thx for the heads-up. Guess I'll have to think carefully before my next thread!

Why is that, Jan? I don't have enough imagination for either so I can certainly comply, but if you don't mind why would that be against the rules?
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

          No problem, Marsden.

JMS has an open invitation here to read or to post. Anyplace he posts, he asks that he not be exposed to story ideas or fan fiction as a preventive measure against his being accused of 'stealing' any ideas he might read. So for the sake of keeping the welcome mat out, it was decided by the members to avoid both.

As far as anybody knows, JMS has referred to the archives of his posts several times but if he reads the forums here, he's never given any indication of it. Still, this way the option's open to him.

There would be no new world order in thew galaxy if The Shadows win, only Galactic Chaos ....
