  • Lyta and Kosh

I've recently looked up some B5 for the first time since I saw it in the 90's, and I still swear the Lyta/Kosh relationship tip-toes on the border of romance. Something never really spoken upon.

Makes me wonder if Lyta and Sheridan are the reasons Kosh had a nicer view on the younger races than Ulkesh did.

I'm also considering how Lyta practically carried a piece of Kosh IN her, knowingly. Somehow, I can't see that allowing a lot of mental privacy, know what I mean?

    Welcome, Auryndenek, love your avatar!

Well, we know that Lyta idolized Kosh, don't know if she actually loved him, though. As for Kosh...yes, I do think he was fond of humans but even so, he was so manipulative, I wonder if he ever really saw them or even Delenn, as anything more than means to an end.

When it came to mental privacy, I don't suppose that teeps raised by the Corps are used to getting any privacy. Even so, Lyta told Kosh that she'd hidden away what she knew about him when she was questioned, so perhaps she could do the same if there was something particularly personal she wanted to keep from Kosh.

Thanks! I drew my icon, it's a smaller version of my Vorlon OC, whose name is Auryndenek.

There wasn't a lot of detail on how Lyta hid those memories of that scan in The Gathering. But she must have seen something she liked a lot to keep going to back to Kosh without feeling threatened by how he manipulated people.

I just feel like there's something about them that's kept "under the table" and if we could just peek in on a private conversation between them, we'd go "a-ha!"

Ulkesh was the one that abused her. Kosh never hurt her.

(Don't mind me, I'm a hopeless romantic ^^ My sig links to a music video that tells the story of their relationship as I saw it.)

JMS told Pat Tallman that Lyta was scanning God in "The Gathering". Love between a woman and God - that would make Lyta a nun.

That would also make Lyta the equivalent of Alcmene (the mother of Hercules and the wife of Amphitryon) or the Virgin Mary.

I also think there's an element of romance there: maybe not of the conventional kind, but still...

Have you seen the charming interview with Patricia Tallman at http://www.midwinter.com/b5/Misc/tallman.txt?

She discusses Lyta's feelings for Kosh there, I'll quote the relevant bit:

When you totally trust, worship and adore someone, that can get pretty sexy can't it?
She really impressed me in that interview, also has nice things to say about G'Kar, well worth a read for anyone who hasn't seen it (it's not new).

That's a great interview, thanks! If I'd ever seen it before, I'd fogotten. Pat's very sweet.

That must explain this silly, scandalous image:

I think there definitely is sexual imagery involved in Kosh/Lyta - all this "inside me" business, and the visuals when Kosh is... uhm... entering Lyta or withdrawing.

Definitely. Especially when you look at how Ulkesh leaves her vs how Kosh does. Kosh is gentle and Ulkesh hurts her.

And charming, and talented, and witty, and modest, and hot.

                          Did I mention hot?

Jokes aside, she is (like Mira F) one of those types of people that look good on TV or film, with the good hair and the great lighting and the fantastic make-up. But when you meet her in the flesh, she is even better looking. She has a natural beauty that just radiates out of her. I have been lucky enough to meet here a couple of times and she is just magnetic.

I am a guy, so sue me!

I just learned this from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patricia_Tallman

"She and former husband Jeffrey Willerth met while filming the TV series Babylon 5. Willerth physically performed the role of Kosh the Vorlon on the series."

So there must have been something between Lyta and Kosh!

Agreed! w.r.t. both Pat and Mira. "....a natural beauty that just radiates out of her." is spot on.
