  • Probably a old question- Will there b any new B5?

    Hi!

Am new to this forum, so apologies for this abrupt question as a 1st post!

After just finding & watching the Lost Tales episode on NetFlix, I realized that I am as eager to see a B5 movie (or any new stuff at all) as I am the next Trek (please, no flames from ST haters- it's not a religion, I just like escapism!)

Anyone know if JMS has any future B5 plans while there are still original cast members willing and able??

    ...Matt

    Welcome Matt .

The latest we have heard from JMS is that if, and only if, he can get a high budget (film), there is not likely to be any new B5.

You are not likely to see much flaming here, most people here speak nicely to each other even when they disagree.

Welcome, Matt! Nothing wrong with anticipating more Trek OR B5. Just wish there was more of a likelihood that there'd be more B5 any time soon.

As babylonlurker said, JMS has said that he'll only consider doing more B5 if it's a big-budget film. One of the reasons for this was that the first Lost Tales disk was so under-funded (only 2-3 million)and no larger budget was offered for any further ones. Even before that one disk came out, JMS and Doug Netter had said that they'd require a much larger budget to do any further.

That said, JMS has become known now if the feature world so he seems to think that when he comes up with a B5 story he really wants to tell, it shouldn't be a problem to convince WB to back it. And if they won't, he can take it elsewhere since he owns the movie rights.

It's my gut feeling that because of the aforementioned reasons we're not likely to see B5 again. Which is really sad. I thought the lost tales was a great starting point for an amazing series of dvds.
