I have a question about 'The exercise of vital powers'.
In this episode Edgars tells Garbaldi why he has been hired(the telepath-threat et al). He cites examples of times when the people gave away the power to the wrong leaders. Russia in 1917 and again in 2013, etetera. As a last example he mentions 'the French in 2112'.
Now I know it's a long-shot, but knowing jms' fondness for Tuckerisms*** I wonder, is 2112 a reference to the Lp Rush recorded in the 70-ies? The song/epic 2112 is about a future totalitarian state in which the priests of the temple of Syrinx rule everything and everyone until they are driven out by a coalition of free planets(sounds familiar...
).
Any idea if this was done on purpose anyone?
TM.
*** Tuckerism in a nutshell : using the names of people you know or admire in fiction(books, films, etcetera). Examples in B5 : Asimov-blocks and of course Alfred Bester.
