B5:The Gathering - Special Editon was a more recent effort and was made in 4:3 so there would be no formatting issues, how about a BluRay of that and TLT?

Such a shame really as I watched B5:TLT on our SKY TV movie feed in HD and it looked totally glorious, so rich in texture and detail, even down to the weave in the actor's costumes.

O/STAR is correct re online pricing on this site, for certain items. Don't forget that this is the wonderful UK where we get everything almost last and way overpriced. So to spot a gem like this is a great find.

Most of the time it just seems that businesses see the US price and just swap the $ sign for the ú sign without adjusting the actual figure downwards!

Still, as I said in the OP, I could not resist and just had to buy a full set for my mum and sis. I brought them into B5 way back when, and they have loved it ever since! I would give them my old VHS copies but they just don't have the room for them.

Did rather sting a little though, as I paid full price for the DVD sets first time around and this just seems like a bit of a slap in the face.

That's the price of being an early buyer, rather than waiting for the prices to come down. I paid $75~$80 each for my B5 sets, but then again I did have all those years of watching them which late buyers didn't have. <shrug> OTOH, I waited until "CSI" DVD season sets came down to $19.95 before I bought Seasons 2 thru 7. Ditto for "Supernatural" Seasons 1 thru 3.

Ahh, the price of progress I suppose....I'll just wait for WB to finally get a sound brain in the CEO's suit/shoes and realise what a hot property B5 is and so decide to fund a complete CGI HD rerendering for the FX (in the correct ratio!) and a total remaster and 4K scan of all the live footage and new Fx then release it all on Blu-Ray.

I was at Walmart this past weekend and they had every season for under $20 each. The availability will vary by store.

B5 DVD sets in Wal-Mart??? I haven't seen them in Wal-Mart in probably three or four years. Which were they in, the new, slim packaging (which I've heard about but never seen.) or the old packaging that was like a book and measured 7-5/8" x 5-7/16" x 1-9/16" with three disk pages each, each page measuring 7/16" thick?

ps. Most Wal-Mart stores of the same size carry the exact same stuff, so if you don't find it in one store, unless it's merely sold out (indicated by an empty spot on the shelf where the stuff is supposed to be.), there's no use in going to other Wal-Mart stores in hope of finding it there.

A question for those who own the UK/Region 2 DVD set of B5.

During the show's original television run, the show made some mid-season alterations to its opening credits sequences during some of its seasons, specifically:

During Season 1, the normal crediting for Julie Caitlin Brown as Na'Toth is replaced with one for Mary Woronov as Ko'Dath (who'd been intended as a regular, but was replaced when she couldn't cope with the prosthetics) for the episode Born to the Purple This change is not reflected in the Region 1 DVD release.

During Season 2's first two episodes, the credits sequence featured visual footage of Delenn from back in Season 1 so as not to give away her changed appearance until it's reveal during the post-credits narrrative of the second episode, Revelations, which is then reflected from episode 3 (The Geometry of Shadows) onwards. In addition, Claudia Christian's crediting changes from "Lt. Commander Susan Ivanova" to "Commander Susan Ivanova" from episode 4 (A Distant Star) onwards, after her post-credits promotion during the narrative of episode 3. The Region 1 DVD release makes the rather odd choice of using the post-alteration Delenn footage and pre-promotion Ivanova crediting, thus leaving only 1 episode out of 22 actually reflective of the original broadcast. (The Geometry of Shadows.)

During Season 4, the crediting for Jerry Doyle and Jeff Conaway, goes from "Security Chief Michael Garibaldi" and "Zack Allan" respectively to basically the other way around ("Michael Garibaldi" and "Security Chief Zack Allan") as of episode 8 (The Illusion of Truth) so as to reflect Garibaldi's resignation in the episode before (Epiphanies) and Zack's promotion to his post. The Region 1 DVD release uses only the second version of the credits, effectively giving away Garibaldi's resignation a half dozen episodes early.

I have been told that these mid-season credit changes were retained in the Region 2 DVD releases. As I've finally gotten my hands on a region free DVD player and I'm just a wee bit OCD about the accuracy of my collection, I'm wondering if anyone who owns the Region 2 releases would be kind enough to let me know if these changes are, indeed, retained in that release, so as to know whether it would be worth the trouble of ordering the Region 2 sets.

Finally got round to buying crusade on dvd from HMV in Leeds. ú13 a bit of a bargain. They were also doing the full set (inc movies) for ú80.00.

Beats me how they can sell it for such an amazing price, since in Germany it costs almost twice as much (or more).

native UK shows are often much more expensive than US shows for fewer episodes per season ... e.g. B5 at ú30-ú35 per 22 episode season vs Doctor Who at around ú55 per 13 episode season.

Ok, I accept your point about the passage of time, old stock etc. Just seems like yesterday as my B5 sets are always being borrowed by somebody or other so contact with them is always fresh in my mind, I guess it never had a chance to fade properly.
