    Hi all,
yes I'm new to this forum so these questions might very well have been discussed earlier on but I wouldn't know what to search for in the post archive so here are two questions I have.
Also I have not read any novel so far due to lack of time and availability of said novels.

    1) in "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars " Sol goes nova one milllion years after Sheridan's death. According to astro physical calculations it's not supposed to before 5 BILLION years. So obviously mankind must have "kindled" the nova after they moved to the new earth.
Question is why? Are they fleeing from a more advanced race? Are they going beyond the rim and don't want to leave anything the younger races might find and use to their advantage behind?
Has this been cleared up somehwere somehow?

    2) in Thirdspace Lyta mentions "so many more mistakes". Is there any info what these mistakes might be?
    What's up Drakh?

      Hi i love Lyta,
      welcome to this Forum!

      1) Before you are asking questions that have already been answered you can always search in the jmsnews archive. For example, i've found this one.

Actually, the computer voice specifies that it is continuing to
note atypical solar emissions...atypical meaning something unusual is
      going on.

      jms
Why Sol was manipulated hasn't been answered yet. And, as far as i know, its also unknown who is responsible for that manipulation. The humans don't go beyond the rim (not yet) they are evacuated to the Vorlon homeworld (the new earth).

      2) Perhaps we will learn more about those mistakes in the future.

There is no information on the other mistakes made by the Vorlons but Sheridan could probably keep Lyta busy for 5 years putting them right. Possibly after the Telepath War.

          Lyta post Telepath War

For some reason I am under the impression that Lyta didn't survive the war. Has there been any information about this?

              Thanks for the answers everyone.

Concerning the mistakes I found a nice answer from jms.

I have looked this up on the search engine on the site here with various formats and I can't find an answer. So I shall ask it here.

What party were Santiago and Clark before Clark siezed power? Is it unknown, unimportant or otherwise unrevealed? I don't necessarily want the party name, just the basic tenets. Essentially we've had two parties in this country (US) for 230 years, so it would follow that EA has two main political parties.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

It did not say. It is also unimportant; people cheat irrespective of their party.

It is the leaders of your party that you have to watch the hardest.

I remember an ISN news bit that mentioned that they ran mainly on a platform of returning focus to matters and problems at home on Earth. That's all that was mentioned in the series, I think. Whether that was a party line or just a wedge issue is up to viewer interpretation.

I remember Hague saying something like "not buying the party line anymore" in reference to some people under Clark. Whatever that party line, or the party, we don't know.

                          That's very US centric POV...
If the Earth Alliance is a true Earth Alliance I'd expect to have more than two political currents. I'd speculate that there could be a conservative-right party, like the Republicans, as well a moderate left like the US Democrats, but other countries (e.g. Europe) should keep their Social-Democrat current and form a party along those lines, further left than the Democrats. In Latin American countries there is also a constituency for social-democrat parties (witness Chavez in Venezuela, Da Silva in Brazil, Kirshner in Argentina). I seem to remember that most European countries have three or more strong parties. Since it's more fragmented this means that many times there will be a coalition of two parties (or more) for the elections.

Because of this I'd expect at least three political parties (conservative, left and social-democrat), if not four or five ( "moderate" center and moderate-right party).

Of course maybe the Earth Alliance stemmed from a US hegemony that implemented (imposed?) the polarized two party system over all the world...
I actually think that having only two extreme choices (that could keep any 3rd party from becoming a serious contender) would be a weak democracy. But that may be a discussion for a different forum....

"Buying the party line" seems too much of a general saying IMO, that it may not refer to a political party per se but only to the "official word" from the government.

From this comment I get the impression that JMS didn't care much for being specific about the politics...
Yes, I wanted to keep Clark more a force than a person...
                          http://jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-2880

I'd say the party is unimportant... what mattered was that a democracy can become a dictatorship if people allow it.

                            question...

                            Here's a question I never saw answered....

                            Are Minbari viviparous mammals?

If so: how did the females give birth to babies with possibly very sharp horns....

That is a mistery of the B5 Universe to me.

Can't believe I'm actually answering this...

... but after looking up what viviparous means, yes, they are.

You don't see human babies come out with a full head of wavy hair, do you? Or anything resembling full fingernails? Bone crests probably grow with the child, not in the womb - or rather small if they do.

My act of useless analysis and thought is done for the day.
