  • Babylon 5 Movie chatter

Warner Bros has initiated contact to ask JMS just how ôBigö does it have to be in order to bring Babylon 5 to the screen.

There is not much real news to the article, but it certainly peaked my curiosity. Maybe someone attending NYCC could ask jms if there is any truth to it.

Yea, I know, no source credited, no quote from jms, but I can still hope.

Yeah, well, the rent is cheap, the pay is decent and I get to make my own hours.

It's from an interview that JMS did with the NYCC blog:
Ironically, WB never seemed interested in doing a big B5 movie just on its own terms, in recognition for what it is and was. But now that I'm suddenly doing all this movie work, they've started calling and saying, "So, how big a movie would it have to be for you to come back and make a B5 movie for us?" So we'll see.
Of course, WB has approached him before and ended up only wanting to go cheap so, as JMS said, we'll see.

I think that, where we stand right now as B5 fans,
the premise to what could become good news is already good news...

Just trying to be helpful, but I believe the word you wanted was piqued.

I'll believe it 10 minutes after I've seen the movie and have convinced myself that I wasn't dreaming.

You know, I'm two DVDs into Tennant's first season (series) as the Doctor, and so far I like Eccleston's Doctor a helluva lot more. Eccleston had the gravitas for the role, and his bones didn't look as thin and fragile as toothpicks. Tennant looks like if a stiff wind hit him, he'd break something.

Give it about 11 more episodes then watch the next xxxmas special, the one which introduced The Bride. *evil, delighted grin*

              You'll see why.

I do appreciate it. If my peers find me to be illiterate who will want to read my posts?

Thanks pointing out the source of this story Jan. As always I'm in your debt.

"I live to serve; I serve to live." I'd thought about posting it when it first showed up in my Google Alerts but it seemed so nebulous. After all, from what JMS has said, it's not anything new for WB to approach him for more B5. With luck JMS will come back to them with a number that he feels would be right to really do B5 justice because, after seeing the opening sequence to the Lost Tales on a big screen a couple of years ago, I really, really really want to see a B5 feature.

xxxmas? What, they did a triple-x (porn) Christmas special? Man, this needs to be on the B5TV.com so Markus et all could chime in. <evil grin>

Was really sad when TMoS fell through. B5 more than any series is really due a big movie outing. Every time my parents come round to my house they always ask me when we are going to get more B5.

I really get the feeling this will be announced sometime this year (I am on record for 20th October as it's my birthday and that would make me a very happy chappy). Imagine the kind of spectacle we could witness with todays' technology.

With JMS having some clout now in film circles WB will be bitting his hands off soon.

                      Name your price JMS.

Even seeing it on a small screen gave me that feeling.

                              Jan,

I also thought of posting this when the Google alert showed up, but refrained since I did not see anything really new. Likewise, until Warner Brothers is willing to fund a Babylon 5 feature film at an appropriate level, I will wait patiently. In my mind, a half-hearted effort for a film would be worse than no film.
