  • "In Valen's Name" lost fourth season episode?

Someone over at the Trekbbs, where I post as middyseafort, mentioned something about the three-issue limited comic series originally being an idea for season four or that a follow-up to the B4 story was planned. The implication was that it had been dropped due to the fourth season being truncated due to the unknown status of season five.

Is this true? Does anyone have any 411 from the Great Maker himself?

Moreover, I've attended JMS's panels at Comic-Con and I don't ever recall him saying anything about this particular storyline being originally part of year four.

I think it was always planned as a comic. The outline is in the script books where it is for a comic with the title "Valen," and I believe it might have been pitched to DC before being written in-house instead and published in the UK magazine and finally being reprinted by DC. There's no indications in the script book that the outline was ever anything but a plan for a 3-part comic.

^Thanks! What script book does the outline appear in? Unfortunately, I had to stop getting the darn things because I had to pay for graduate school. Damn my need to educate myself.

It's in Volume 9, along with a script for what would have been Issue #12 of the comic and the outline for novel #8, Personal Agendas.

Funny thing this should come up. I'm cleaning out my garage today and came across a few things B5 related in cluding 2 of teh Amazing stories with Joe's short stories (the one with Londo, and the one with Lyta/G'Kar0
the 100th Ep Hollywood reporter issue and some B5 comics Issues 1, 5-10 and the 3 issue In valen's name.

Are they worth anything? Who knows, probably not, but I'll keep them for the future, now if only I could find issues 2-4....
All generalizations are false, including this one.

The Amazing Stories issues could be worth some major bucks on Ebay. I've seen them go for over $50 *each*.

I was just looking through one of the comics price guides about a week ago, and although issues 2 - 11 are all worth about $1 or $2, issue #1 is valued at $15!

Well, heck, and my issue #1 is signed by the Great Maker himself! I'll never sell it though. Now my Amazing Stories with "Space, Time, and the Incurable Romantic" I might... or not. I tend to keep all things Babylon 5 related. Recently, I threw out all these old mags, a lot of them Trek related (and I'm a huge TOS fan), but I kept all the ones with B5 in them. Why? B5, as I'm sure all here would agree, was something special and a show similar to it won't ever come around again.

It was, indeed, an event for me when it first aired -- watching it on its screwed up PTEN schedule, going to SDCC to hear JMS speak and preview upcoming stuff, and meeting the cast right before the series hit! I was not born when Trek first aired, but I was there for the dawn of the Third Age of Mankind. So that's why I keep all that stuff.

If Astro Boy is willing to sell the two Amazing Stories with Lyta/G'kar and Londo, I am more than willing to pay a fair price.

As a side note. I've been rereading my first series B5 magazines, and they ran the comic in the magazine, over several issues.
