    MillerCoors ends production of Zima

    Associated Press
    12:54 PM CDT, October 20, 2008

MILWAUKEE - MillerCoors LLC says goodbye to Zima.

The joint venture between SABMiller's U.S. unit and Molson Coors Brewing Co. told distributors in a letter Monday that production of the malt liquor beverage was discontinued as of Oct. 10.

Chief Marketing Officer Andy England says the decision was due to weakness in the "malternative" segment and declining consumer interest.

He says distributors can get remaining Zima inventories most likely through December.

Distributors are being asked to put products from caffeinated alcoholic beverage Sparks on retail store shelves to make up for Zima's absence.

The brand came to the joint venture from Molson Coors, maker of Coors Light and Keystone.

Oh, it may well make a comeback! Hydrox cookies are back on the shelves here for a hundredth anniversary and they haven't been available for decades.

Never know when a nostagia craze will hit.

I'd suggest a farewell toast with Zima, but I've had it before.

See it's not even good for that. I have no problem just hanging out though, have you booked for next year?

On a side note here is my Zima resurgence theory:

It seems obvious that Earth was devastated after the Earth/Minbari War. Besides religion alot of people dove into nostalgia. One of the quirkiest thing to come back along with hair paste, pizza and empire building, was Zima.

A Mars historian that was stuck on Earth in the months following the Earth/Minbari War was doing some digging outside San Diego, and ran across a beverage distribution center that had been demolished following the great blast of 2150. Besides finding several cases of scotch and whiskey now aged 120+ years, several shrink wrapped pallets of Zima were present from the 2147 revival of malt beverage when it was reintroduced as the latest diet fad, and failed.

The forward thinking archaeologist , Chuck E. turned his small discovery into a worlds spanning beverage industry duplicating his found alcoholic products including Zima, and signing exclusive alcohol contracts with Earthforce for Earth, Mars, and Io. He continued to expand his business, Edgars Industries, moving into juices, and eventually pharmaceuticals under his son Willie.

For years, even after relations with other civilizations became common through the Interstellar Alliance, Zima remained a standard "well" drink in the Earth Alliance facilities through 2282, until it lost the popularity contest to new liquid spoo drinks available.

Maybe the Zima on B5 is distilled from Spoo?

Zima is proof that the Earthforce Biowarfare Division existed as far back as the 20th Century.

After suppressing news of Zima's previous incarnation, EBD re-introduced Zima in 2248 as part of a plot to distract people from PsiCorp's interference in EarthGov elections. It was successful for quite a while.
I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Broadmoor files could unmask Jack the Ripper
For more than a century, the identity of Jack the Ripper has eluded detectives and historians.

Now, new files released from Broadmoor high security hospital will provide tantalising new evidence that could finally help to solve Britain's most notorious unsolved murder case.

Among the patients whose files are to be disclosed, as the psychiatric hospital opens its archives to public view for the first time, is Thomas Hayne Cutbush, who was identified at the time as a leading suspect in the killing and mutilation of at least 11 women in the East End of London between 1888 and 1891.

Cutbush, who is described by one author writing a book about the Ripper murders as the "number one suspect", was sent to Lambeth Infirmary in 1891 suffering delusions thought to have been caused by syphilis. But he immediately escaped and stabbed one woman then attempted to stab a second.

He was pronounced insane and committed to Broadmoor in 1891 where he remained until his death in 1903. From the day he was detained, the Ripper murders ceased.

And I really liked that character!
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
