If you're talking of the script books the next planned one is the movie script book, with "Thirdspace", "The River of Souls", "Legend of the Rangers" and "The Lost Tales."

Can't we just forget the "Legend of the Rangers" pilot ever existed? It's a jump the shark/nuke the fridge moment if I ever saw one. Yes, I know that it had Andreas in his last appearance as G'Kar, but IMHO, he's best remembered from his Season 5 performances (2262 G'Kar), and all copies of the "Legend of the Rangers" pilot (DVDs and scripts) should be dropped into a black hole. It makes "The River of Souls" look amazingly good.

No we can't because a number of us like it regardless of how often others insist on breaking in for no apparant reason to tell us how much they hate it.

Let's *not* turn this into a conversation about the movies, shall we?

Ranger 6 and 7/8, I don't really think we can count on ever seeing TMoS because we don't have any indication that the person/company who commissioned it was a signatory of the WGA Minimum Basic Agreement. It's that which gives the writer control over the physical copies of the script in most cases.

Hi Jan. Maybe I'm wrong, but, doesn't JMS own the script now that the movie deal had fallen through. I though that the studio only owned the script up to and including the end of the production cycle and all rights reverted to JMS because he owned the movie rights in the first place.

Not as I understand it, in fact, just the opposite. Yes, JMS owns the movie rights and those reverted back to him but the commissioning of the script was a completely separate transaction. IF the company who commissioned the script was a signatory of the Minimum Basic Agreement of the WGA or if JMS and the company who wanted him to write the script put in the separation of rights clause, then JMS can publish it. Otherwise it belongs to the one who paid to have it written. So on the off chance that the same company were to license the movie rights again, if they wanted to use the TMoS script, as far as I know, no additional payment to JMS would be necessary.

Take the unfilmed Crusade scripts, for example. JMS and Fiona Avery can publish those if they want because WB is a signatory of the MBA. They can't however, have them filmed or turn them into short stories because WB owns them.

                @ KoshN: I'm with you.

@ topic: The entire TMoS debacle still makes me sad. I remember it the same way as you, Jan, so we probably won't ever see this script printed. Still, now as JMS stated that he wouldn't do any more TV-budgeted B5 - and even a movie wouldn't be allowed to use the TMoS-ideas - it would be very nice if he could share with us what the movie would have been about, and give at least some small insight into what the story would have been about (I mean: more than we know because of the casting sheets).

Maybe if/when the Crusade books come out he will. We do know that he pointed to TMoS at the Hawthorne con when asked if we'd ever see any more of the Crusade story.

I'm kinda new to the hardcore fandom of B5. Was a synopsis of the movie ever available?

As a now more intense fan, TMOS still seems like a hushed rumor that blows around fandom. Is there a site that discusses it in detail?

Yeah, well, the rent is cheap, the pay is decent and I get to make my own hours.

Not really because the movie was never officially announced. Some casting sides were found online when rumors were rife about WB wanting to recast the original B5 characters. See this thread and this one for the at-the-time happenings.

Discusses the movie? Again, it was never announced and we only got the title "The Memory of Shadows" and a few other tidbits from hints JMS dropped. His post about the failure of the project is here.

As always, thanks Jan. I was hoping I had missed something, but as you say there wasn't much to miss.

A TMoS summary, hopefully fairly detailed, would be nice.

And don't say "if"; it's "WHEN" the Crusade books come out. I just hope it's not in the year 2525.
